Fed Ex drove up when I was on the phone with the appliance store.
Back up . . This morning I was looking online at the wall oven we ordered. In one of the pictures, it looked like it had a stainless handle and in one of the pictures, it looked like it had the rose gold handle.
So, I called to make sure it was going to have rose gold because the stove and dishwasher have rose gold handles and the fridge, which should be here tomorrow, (or in town tomorrow – we may not get it delivered tomorrow) is supposed to have rose gold handles.
When the salesman heard it was me, he first asked if we had our floors fixed, which was very nice of him; and then before I ever asked my question about the oven, he told me there was a truck from GE that just pulled in and it might have our fridge on it. He called me back and said no . . our fridge is on the truck that’s coming tomorrow.
I asked about the handles for the oven; he checked and said they will be rose gold.
While I was waiting for him to check, I was looking at the specs on the wall oven.
You know I’m big on WiFi and I do love that the stove has wifi so I can turn the oven on, up, down . . from my chair but I’m usually sitting not more than 10 feet from the stove so I could easily live without that feature.
Somehow I missed that the new oven has an “in-oven camera”. I’m excited about that. I get up and check my bread or check whatever I’m baking, it’s not ready, I sit back down and forget about it! I’m hoping with a camera, I can see when my bread is almost down or when it’s time to switch from bake to broil on the chicken that’s roasting.
Now I want the new oven tomorrow. They can keep the fridge and send the oven! I don’t think it works that way. Estimated delivery date for the oven is now July.
What would my grandmother have thought about a camera in the oven??

I wonder about the dehydrator option …you need to try it out and report back. It would be nice to be able to do small batches of stuff.

I’m probably too cheap. The oven will be using 220 and dehydrating takes a long time I’m sure. We have a couple of dehydrators that plug into 110 outlets and don’t use nearly the power the oven uses plus, I’m always telling Addie . . everything has a life expectancy! I doubt I’ll use the oven for dehydrating since I have a way less expensive gizmo that will do it or even the freeze dryer that cost less than the blasted oven. I’ll read the manual online and see what it says.

What would our grandmothers have thought about a stove that you didn’t have to light with a match? Things have sure changed.

Right! I’m sometimes doing things and think “If my grandma could see me now!” I use to write my grandma lots of letters and she loved going to the mail box and retrieving a letter, then sitting down and writing me back. They didn’t have a phone. Now, not only can I call Nicole, talk to Addie . . no long distance charges but I can send her an email with pictures that she can see immediately. We’ve come so far.

What won’t they think of next? Amazing! I can’t even imagine a camera in the oven. Definitely would be nice!!

what did Fed Ex bring you?

I really screwed that one up, didn’t I?

Camera in the oven! That’s great! I can see how useful that would be. Our new fridge is supposed to have wifi and I think Alexa and Google enabled and I’m wondering why? lol
judy.blog@gmail.com says
I can see it with the stove and I’ve already used it quite a bit with the stove. I’ll change my oven from bake to broil at the end for some things. I’ll turn the oven off or to warm and leave some things in there or even turn it on to pre-heat, then the app tells me it’s ready so I go put the food in. But the fridge . . why do I need it on the fridge? I guess I could see what the temp is in there but I can’t imagine why else I need an app on my fridge but . . it will be here next week and I can try to find a use for it.

We have wifi on our oven but I’ve never used it. I’ll have to reconsider adding it to my phone. I can see how useful it could be to turn off and leave something or change the temp during cooking but those are things that I don’t do often. Call me crazy but I get a little paranoid about so many apps having access to our home…lol

When someone can google most of our names and find out more info than we know about ourselves, I just do the best I can but always figure . . we’re in trouble on this path we’ve all taken.
