As I’ve mentioned, I had never heard of Stroopwafels until Sheri mentioned them on her last flosstube. I ordered the little maker and the cutter. The maker arrived last week, the cutter arrived yesterday. We’re all set – I just need to make them.
In the meantime, after writing about stroopwafels, a reader told me they get them at Walmart. When I was making an order last week, I added two packages to my order. They were two stroopwafels per package and I think it was about $1.49 per package. I opened the first package and we weren’t drinking anything hot so I stuck them in the microwave for a few seconds and they were so delicious! Then . . I was so tempted to not tell Vince about the second package because he didn’t know I had bought them, and I could eat them both but I told him and a few days later, we ate the second ones.
I haven’t placed another order at Walmart but I did look to compare prices from some that were at Amazon and Walmart was out but I could order them and have them shipped. I ordered four packages of 8 and they are out for delivery today.
Then, a reader told me she bought some at Aldi. You just never know what you’ll find at Aldi! This morning Vince was going to Aldi . . for coffee, remember? They only had two bags of the coffee he so desperately needed so I said “What are you going to do?”, even though I knew he had plenty of coffee here. He said “Oh, I have some, I just don’t want to run out. So .. he went out into the covid infested stores for something he didn’t really need! He admitted it! 🙂
I asked him to get milk. We probably have enough but it will be towards the end of next week before I place another grocery delivery order. I usually do that once every two or three weeks. I also asked him to see if they have stroopwafels because someone told me they did. I reminded him . . please don’t get chocolate unless you’re going to eat them.
Yep, he found them! He bought them . . probably all of them!
So, yesterday we had no stroopwafels in the house and by the time the order is delivered today, we’ll have 14 packages in the house. See why we have a storage problem? I know there are 8 in the boxes I bought so, assuming there are 8 in the boxes Vince bought, that’s 112 stroopwafels. If we each eat one per day, that’s almost two months worth of stroopwafels.
It’s a good thing we like them, even though it isn’t going to be good for our New Year’s diets! I know . . having them in the house doesn’t mean we HAVE to eat them. That idea works for some but not so well for us. 🙂

That’s a lot of stroopwafels! LOL If you eat too many, you might get tired of them!

Don’t let them age too long. They are not good once they’ve gone stale. I can’t tell if these are authentic/imported but you know that already makes them fairly old.

Thanks. They all have “best by” dates on them and are sealed tightly so hopefully they’ll be good til we use them.

Yummy….I got some from Walmart this week. I love to have one with my morning coffee. I hadn’t even thought about putting them in the microwave, hmmm maybe a bed time snack.

I don’t drink coffee or tea so that’s about the best I can do. I knew that microwave was useful for something. 🙂

When I was in Amsterdam in 2018.. feels like so long ago..they had a liqueur called stroopwafel..we were already hooked on the fresh cookies we were buying at the store..you might be able to buy that in the USA but it isn’t here in Canada ..absolutely delicious

Great. Something else I NEED. 🙂 I’ll have to look for it. I’ve never seen it but I don’t spend much time in liquor stores. We have Macadoodles here – it’s a HUGE liquor store and if it’s anywhere to be found, they should have it. When it’s safe to leave home again, I’ll check there. Thanks!

Ok, you have my interest. What section at Walmart are these in?

I don’t know. Vince bought most of these at Aldi. The ones I got from Walmart where delivered so I didn’t actually go into the store. Sorry.

I used to work in a grocery store and I think we kept them in the cookie/cracker isle.
