Don’t do as I do! 🙂
I know that I need to do better with my sleep habits. It isn’t that my body has a hard time sleeping . . it’s that my head won’t stop so I can sleep. There’s always something fun to do and, though I know this isn’t true, sleep seems like a waste of time. I could be doing something fun instead wasting 1/3 of my life sleeping.
Wednesday night, I didn’t sleep well. That so rarely happens but we had smoked salmon and we ate about 4. Smoked foods make my tummy not feel so good if I eat them much past noon so I know that was part of the reason. There were other things on my mind and it all interfered with my sleep. Then, for some crazy reason, Vince woke up at 3 a.m. and announced he was getting up. What? So, I got up and was making sure he was feeling ok .. yes, he just couldn’t sleep. He does sometimes go to bed way early and I think that might have been the problem. But, I had barely been to sleep yet and then I couldn’t go back to sleep.
Thursday (yesterday), about 2 p.m., I told Vince . . I have to take a nap so I went to bed. It never takes long for Boots to find me when I take a nap so soon he was in there snoozing with me. Either I was so tired that he didn’t bother me or he was still and quiet and didn’t try to use my body for a treadmill . . like he usually does when I’m trying to take a nap.
After a rather long nap, I knew I wasn’t going to go to bed early last night. I told myself . . I WILL be in bed by midnight. No matter what time I go to bed, I seem to wake up a little after 5. See . . that’s a problem!
I started watching Fox & Rabbit’s latest video and it was almost two hours and it was really funny. She was going through all the projects she wants to stitch in 2022. It was hilarious. There must have been 100 projects. They’re so busy with their fabric dying business that they hardly have time for stitching. He was getting aggravated with her because the video went almost two hours. She was giggling, probably to keep from smacking him. He was even falling asleep. I couldn’t stop watching but . . that’s a video to go back and watch when I can buy charts again. She has some good ones!
It was 1:47 when I turned everything off and went to take my shower. I told myself . . I’m going to take a super quick shower and be in bed by 2:00. It almost happened . . I decided before taking a shower that I needed to trim my hair. That never works out well for me – especially at that time of night. I was in bed by 2:20. Then I made the mistake of checking my phone. I usually look at it one last time to check the cameras and make sure nothing or no one is outside. That’s when I saw a link to a new recipe by The Mediterranean Dish. She had a post at the top for the top recipes of 2021. I started looking at those. I had a grocery delivery scheduled for today between 12 and 1 p.m. I started adding things to my grocery order. It was after 3 a.m. when I finalized the additions to my grocery order. As usually, I was awake at 5:10 a.m. That is not much sleep but I’m sure part of it was due to the long nap yesterday.
I am not taking a nap today. I have to get back on a schedule. I’m usually ok if I go to bed by midnight and sleep til 5 or 5:15. I’ve never needed much sleep. My parents said even as a baby I didn’t sleep much and I can remember growing up and hating bed time. I was never ready to go to sleep when my parents said “Bed time!” I was kinda hoping that as I got older, I’d feel the need to sleep more but so far, that hasn’t happened.

I found that now I sleep about 6 hours per night, so if I go to bed at 10pm, I wake up about 3:30 or 4am. If it’s closer to 11pm, I’m awake at 5pm. This happens over and over. Last night bedtime was 10:30pm, I woke up at 4:30am and got out of bed at 5pm. Napped on the couch from 3-4pm. I don’t often take naps, just once in a while. Not even sleeping pills help me sleep longer. Ah well, I’m getting more done!

I have to have sleep, at least 7 hours. I usually do not go to bed until around 12-1 a.m. Then I sleep until around 8 or 9. If I am not feeling well, I sometimes sleep until 10. Pat usually stays in bed after I get up. But he does not sleep well at night, and he goes in the other room and looks at his computer. He only turns the hall light on, but it does not bother me.

Ahhh sleep! I used to need more but apparently my body thinks it needs less but I’m not sure I agree! For several days in a row I kept getting up around 4 (better than 2-3 though) but this morning I slept in till 6! Much better! Seems that if we go to bed around 9-9:30 I tend to get up early but if we wait till 10-11 I will sleep in. Looking forward to E’s retirement so we don’t have to keep a schedule.Thing is, I love being a night owl but I also love my early mornings. I can’t have both so at some point will have to figure this thing out…lol

That’s exactly how I am. It is so hard for me to stop and go to bed but I think that’s a learned behavior. When I was here by myself, I wouldn’t go to bed til I was so sleepy, I almost fell asleep before I covered myself up. Otherwise, I heard noises and knew there was someone in the house. I love going to bed when Vince does and we’ll sometime listen to old songs on our tablets, though as a teen, he looked to crazy music and I listened to old country or old gospel so we definitely have two different tastes in music.
But, like you, I love being up before daylight. I guess if I take a nap every day, I can stay up late and wake up early!

I wish I didn’t need a lot of sleep. I feel like I waste so much time sleeping. I used to have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Now I listen to audiobooks. I fall asleep with them on. When I wake up I rewind them to where I last remember listening and fall asleep again. I probably get less sleep than I think I do by doing this, but my mind isn’t going a mile a minute keeping me awake, normally. I have tinnitus, so doing this helps with that too..
