Yesterday I stitched 5 hours, 15 minutes on this project. So far this week, I’ve stitched 14-1/2 hours on this project. Surprisingly, I’m not seeing a lot of progress for that amount of time. I expected more.
I will admit that yesterday’s stitching was done while watching flosstubes, at least a few hours of the stitching time. I’m finding the chart very hard to read. To me, the squares are small and the symbol takes up so much of the square that even after I copied/enlarged the pages, I’m still having to pick it up and look more closely to see what symbol is in each little square. Also, the deer is huge and takes up more than one page. While I could have taped the pages together, that would make it harder to handle so I’m having to count across two pages . . it’s just a slow project for me but so pretty and worth the effort.
What you see on the deer is the hind leg, then part of the other hind leg (the one that’s leading) and then the bottom edge of the bellow. I will go back to working on the deer today but last night, I needed to get off the deer stitching and do something with a bit more color so I started the flower that’s between the deer’s feet.
Since this is a WIPGO project and since my goal is 20 hours, I’ll probably work on this today and I doubt I get 5-1/2 hours done today to reach the 20 hours for January but the 14th – 16th is WIPGO weekend so I’ll stitch more on it then.
Thinking ahead . . since Sunday is part of WIPGO weekend and since I definitely don’t want to miss another Sunday Stitch, I think my WIPGO weekends will be just Friday and Saturday.
There are no WIPGO police so I can really do anything I want to do. This is just January and my first year of doing WIPGO so, I may change my mind . . we’ll just wait and see.

When I have something engaging on while stitching I find myself spending a lot of time looking at the screen instead of stitching. I have to watch things I’ve already seen but even then I will stop and watch….lol I love how flexible we can be with WIPGO to suit our needs.

-Thinking of how you sometimes use a basting thread to show your outline, could you run a thread through the middle of the deer to indicate the edge of the page, thus reducing your counting?

I could. Great idea. Thanks. I will still have to count but I can just stitch right up to that line and then start counting on the other side of the line. You’re brilliant!

-Well, I got a good idea. You’re welcome!

Looks to me like you got a lot done! I don’t think I could have done that in that length of time. I have started a new shawl Pat got me for Christmas. The name of the pattern is Sedona Sunset wrap. The yarn is Chroma Twist – Sedona. 70% Superwash Wool and 30% Nylon. Beautiful variant from pink to purple. I think I am going to love this!!

It was an hour or two here and an hour or two there – I didn’t sit and do it without stopping but I think I could. I’ll have to look up the Sedona Sunset Wrap. That was a nice and thoughtful gift!
