Just so you know, when one door closes, another door opens. I can’t buy cross stitching stuff, I’ll find something else to buy! 🙂 Vince is really lucky that I don’t like to shop! 🙂
To me, “shopping” is when I walk through the stores, looking at everything and buy stuff I had no idea I needed but when someone tells you how wonderful something is and how much you need one, and I order it off Amazon, that isn’t really shopping . . that’s my story! Maybe it’s just the waste of time walking up and down the aisles, then standing in line to pay, then putting it all in the car, then bringing it all in and finding a place to put it – maybe that’s what I don’t like. I don’t know. Obviously, I don’t have a problem with ordering.
The other night I was watching Sheri’s flosstube #21 (Colorado Cross Stitch Sheri). Right around the 39 minute mark, she mentioned stroopwafels. I had never heard of them. In her “down below stuff”, she links to the little waffle maker and a recipe. I thought . . Addie and I would LOVE making these together so I ordered the waffle maker and it arrived today.
This is Sheri’s affiliate link to the waffle maker on Amazon.
It came with the little tool for making the waffle cones and the bowl maker.
Sheri posted a link to the recipe too. Here’s the recipe she used.
I told Vince this morning . . I’m smoking the salmon today and making PW’s Crash Hot Potatoes. I’ll make a salad and that’s all I’m doing today besides cross stitching. He said “fine”.
Then, this box arrived and he said “So much for cross stitching all day.” I’ll see how much stitching I get done. I may or may not make these today.
I could make them today and use them as waffles or cones but for the stroopwafels, it says you need to use a 4-1/2″ cookie cutter because you make them perfectly round, then cut them in half, put the filling in and then put the other half on top. I don’t have the 4-1/2 round cutter so I had to order that. I do have a 3-1/2 round cutter and I could cut two but that would be a lot of waste so I may just wait for the cookie cutter to arrive or I may make waffle bowls and have ice cream sundaes in our bowls. We’ll see.

check out recipes for pizzelles which are an Italian waffle cookie. They don’t use yeast and is thinner batter. But good.

Yes, we make pizzelles often. We have a cast iron pizzelle pan, as well as an electric pan. When I saw these, I thought of pizzelles.

stroopwafels DUTCH! I’m a Dutch immigrant and these are sooooooo good. Traditionally 3.5 inches and round. They are so yummy while still hot from assembly. Trader Joe is carrying minis that about 1 inch.
Enjoy!

Neat! Thanks!

Aldi has the cookies already made, but that wouldn’t be fun would it?

I can’t tell you the last time I bought cookies. I need to pay more attention to what’s out there. When I do go in, I have a list, I get what’s on the list and it’s very rare that I even notice anything else.

We first had these at a street fair in Amsterdam. Wonderful!! I now buy them at Walmart and on Amazon (chocolate ones)

Walmart has them? I told you I never notice things in the grocery store that are not on my list.

The store-bought ones are not folded in half. They are stacked together like an ice cream cookie sandwich. (one round, filling, second round). I bet the homemade ones taste better, though!

How big are the storebought ones? Do you find them in our stores? I’ve never looked . . I don’t usually buy cookies or cookie type things so I don’t often even go down the row with the cookies.
Joyce says
The ones I’ve bought are about 4 inches in diameter. The package recommends putting them on top of your coffee/tea mug to warm and soften. The ones I’ve eaten have had caramel as the filling. I usually see them in Tuesday Morning, but I’ve also seen them in Walmart.

Thanks. I’ve just never noticed them but I’ll watch for them now.

“Someone” recently made Spaetzle and recommended a Spaetzle maker. I got one for Christmas and made Spaetzle last night. Very good and that maker was so easy to use. Thanks, Judy!

When I did my cabinet re-arranging, I picked up that spaetzle maker and said I’m going to make spaetzle this week! Glad you enjoyed it. “Someone” sure causes lots of issues, doesn’t she? 🙂

These are perfect with Nutella.

Ok Judy gotta question–it isn’t related to this little waffle maker–but didn’t hear if you made any cookies with those molds you lost then Vince found? Just curious. Had us on your trip looking for them forever. Didn’t hear if you made any this year.
judy.blog@gmail.com says
I did not! I kept thinking about it but you may remember I was pretty sick in early December. It was 12/3 when I went to the doctor and it was at least three weeks before I had much energy back or was feeling halfway decent. Those cookies are labor intensive and I didn’t want to start them and not be able to finish them. They’ll be extra special next year. Thank you for thinking about those molds! They do have their own fan club.
