Last night I got so little stitching done that it wasn’t even worth taking a photo to share. I may have done 50 stitches. It was just a leisurely night and I actually went to bed early.
Since I had no progress, I’ll share Vince’s progress. He got both small generators set up, tested and the propane tanks filled.
When he went to fill the propane bottles, which was the first time he had tried to fill bottles from the new tank, they wouldn’t fill. He called our propane guy and he told Vince a couple of things to try and, apparently, one of the things worked because he got the tanks filled, got the generators hooked up and ran them for a while.
If the power goes off for an extended time, we have two small generators we’ll hook up to the freezers in the garage. We will, of course, leave the generators outside the garage, with the doors down, while we run them for the minimum time needed to keep the food frozen. Then we’ll bring the generators in at night.
Same thing with downstairs. We have a propane heater down there but it needs electricity for the thermostat. We’ll only run that to keep the area in the basement where all the plumbing comes in warm enough that pipes don’t freeze. It’s in the insulated garage and I can’t imagine it staying cold enough long enough for inside that room to get below 32 degrees.
I’m not even worried about inside pipes freezing. We could get enough ice to cause some problems Saturday night though now, it’s looking like we’re going to get so little ice, it won’t be a problem. Even if we were to lose power, Monday our highs are going to be in the mid-40’s and our low is 30.
I was happy Vince tested tested the generators, filled the small tanks and now . . we’re pretty much set for whatever might happen. Laundry is all done, all three beds have clean sheets . . thanks to Addie and Vince helping me put them back on the beds.
Let’s just hope I can get a lot of cross stitching done today. I do have to make more food for Rita and I want to make a pot of soup for us. Otherwise, I think it’s going to be a day of stitching.
