There’s a “pallet” store in Chad’s town and they seem to be popping up in lots of places around here. The one in Chad’s town is fairly new. If you aren’t familar with them, the owners buy pallets of either returned goods or overstock from large retailers. They open the entire pallet and put the merchandise out in bins that customers can dig through and find “bargains” (or junk). Say they restock on Friday. Then Saturday, Sunday and Monday, everything is $7 each. On Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s $5.00 for each item. On Thursday and Friday, it’s $3.00 for each item.
Chad’s store restocks on Friday evening so he finds great things on Saturday morning. So far, for $7 for each item, he’s found a charging pad for electronics, a stick vacuum designed for picking up pet hair, one of those pushbutton door locks that works with your phone, a dehumidifier, several decent toy type things for Addie.
When Chad was here Christmas Day, he looked to see if there was one in Joplin and . . yes, there is one so even though not on our list of places to visit, we went by there yesterday. That is Vince’s kind of store . . just dig through bins of “stuff” for hours . . hopefully, from now own, without his wife.
There was a $1 table and Addie did find a few things – a squishy unicorn she can make into a key chain; a Star Wars coloring book and a pack of stickers.
She also found a battery operated hand held thing that you slide across a bag of chips to reseal the bag. I wasn’t real impressed with it but she will love resealing bags of chips and about the only time we open chips is when she’s here. She also found a tin of findings that she can use to make all kinds of things. She loves making that sort of stuff.
I found one thing – which is so cool I’ll do a separate blog post about it.
Vince’s greatest find was a $50 antenna for his radio . . which was $5.00. He bought a battery operated fish that flops around – a cat toy that our cat totally ignored. He found a power supply that works with one of his computers; a gizmo that tests moisture, light and pH in the soil, a computer mouse, a grill cleaner and a couple more things I’m not remembering.
Vince will look forward to going there and seeing the new merchandise on Fridays. I’ll look forward to a little alone time at home! 🙂 Some days I will go with him but for the most part, that’s his entertainment – not mine!

I would love a store like that, my husband, not so much. He hates to shop and generally goes, gets what he needs and leaves. I on the other hand feel like since I’m there I want to see what else is there so we don’t shop together but I will go with him to Home Depot sometimes. I need to see if there is a shop like that here. If there is, it is probably in Salt Lake but I rarely go there to shop even though it’s only about 30 minutes from here.

That’s amazing! Ours gets pallets from Target, Home Depot or Lowes (can’t remember), Walmart, Amazon and even one of the bath places.

I would love a store like that, but I am afraid I would spend too much money! LOL

I think there may be a place similar to your pallet store in the town where my daughter lives. They don’t call it a pallet store but the way things work sounds similar. Every once in a while I see an announcement on Facebook about the place and a new batch of merchandise being offered. Maybe sometime I will have to check it out……when the weather warms up!
