Do you remember a month or so ago and Vince was getting ready to go have a stress test? He had on some kind of slip on shoes and I told him I thought he needed lace up shoes. He had an old, dirty pair of tennis shoes but he was looking all through the house for a better pair. Closet? Maybe? Oh . . that only works if you keep your shoes in the closet. Forget that.
He found a box of new tennis shoes in the garage. He was so happy! Went to put them on and it was two of the same feet. I can’t remember if it was left or right foot. After a few choice words, he put the old, dirty tennis shoes on and went to do his stress test .. which he passed.
A couple of days later, he was looking at the shoes, trying to remember when and where he bought them. It could have been anywhere within the past 20 years. He buys shoes like I buy floss.
He discovered that they were even two different brands! Well, that’s weird.
Today he was working in the garage, found another box of tennis shoes and those were the matches to the ones he found earlier. Now he has two new pairs of tennis shoes.
He came inside and told me that and we both started laughing. Addie was coming upstairs and wanted to know what was so funny. I told her “Grumps found his missing shoes!” I had to explain the whole story and she looked at me with a straight face and said “I don’t think it’s nice to laugh when someone loses their shoes!” Child, you have to live with him to see the humor in that story!

Reminds me of the old joke: “Your socks are mismatched!” “I know, and the funny thing is, I have a pair at home just like it!”
