Not “haul” as in mail haul because nothing arrived yesterday . . nothing . . the price I pay for not ordering! 🙂
Vince made four or five or more trips back and forth to the storage rentals. Getting started on cleaning out those buildings is hard but once he gets started, he doesn’t want to stop. There are things he’s bringing in that I have missed almost every day since we moved and there are things I haven’t thought about that I’m so happy to see and then there are things I wonder why we moved those (or why we ever had them to start with).
One of the things I was so happy to see was part of our balsamic vinegar collection.
We lived less than an hour from the San Saba Olive Oil Company in San Saba. Their olive oil was great but I don’t find it that hard to find great olive oil. Their balsamic vinegars . . I can’t find any I like as much as I like theirs. We’ve tried a couple of places that were supposed to be amazing but, in my opinion, they don’t compare to the balsamic from San Saba. Some of the fruit flavors are so good on ice cream! I love any of the flavors drizzled over roasted brussels sprouts or steamed broccoli. It’s great over brie with toasted walnuts.
There are probably at least two more boxes with their balsamic because we had every flavor.
Vince told me the balsamic was “somewhere” because he remembered packing it. He came in yesterday, all smiles, happy to tell me he had found some of the balsamic. He knew that would make me happy and it did. For the most part, it doesn’t take much to make us happy.
I had a grocery order delivered yesterday and one of the items was ice cream. I was so tempted to have ice cream with balsamic on it last night but didn’t. Maybe today we’ll find time to do that.

I can’t imagine wanting to put ANY kind of vinegar on ice cream! That just sounds horrible!! ?. But that’s what makes the world go ’round – everybody’s different… Have a wonderful holiday season, and enjoy that ice cream!!! ?

It’s one of those things that doesn’t sound good til you try it. The syrup is thick and sweet with just a bit of a tang to it – nothing like apple cider vinegar or white vinegar or most of the balsamics you find in stores.

We have a homemade ice cream place here that does a cherry chocolate chip ice cream with balsamic. I can’t have vinegar but Lee loves it. I did sneak a small taste and it’s very good…not a combination I would have ever thought of! Have a very merry Christmas and all the best for a happy, healthy, limited buying new year!

Thanks, Carolyn, Merry Christmas to you and your family. I’m so glad we’re both living close to our families! 🙂
I would never have thought of balsamic and ice cream either. Not sure where I heard about it but I do like it. I even have chocolate balsamic! Last night I had Roasted Fig balsamic with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream.

You have peaked my interest. Now I want to try this balsamic vinegar. I have never had vinegar on ice cream but then again I don’t eat ice cream. I am allergic to milk and it is just not worth it.

After my recent hamburger incident, all I have to say to you is . . Don’t Do It! 🙂

We went to San Saba last week and bought some Extra Virgin Olive Oil and some Elderberry Balsamic Vinegar. You take 1 teaspoonful of each, and it is supposed to have properties in it that are very good at healing your body. I haven’t noticed anything yet! But it has only been a week so we will see! When you mix the two, you swish it in your mouth, so you don’t get the vinegar or the olive oil flavor, you get the Elderberry. It tastes really good! But do not ever get the Habanera!! A friend of ours drank it like you would a shot! His face turned red, and the lady had to get him something else to take the burning and pain away! We tried to warn him, but he wouldn’t listen! You know how men are sometimes!!

Elderberry is supposed to be so good for you. We had about 2 dozen trees in Texas and have planted a dozen or so here. We do not have the elderberry balsamic. That one is fairly new or at least wasn’t there last time we were there. I just ordered three more – Bordeaux Cherry, Blackberry Ginger and Pomegranate. We go through the Pomegranate quickly. I should have ordered the elderberry – almost did and didn’t. Their shipping is very reasonable. It was $9 shipping for three of the large bottles.
Let me know if you see any improvements with the elderberry vinegar and the olive oil

WOW that is great for the shipping! I really like the taste and when I take it, it is not bad at all. She did tell me to swish it in my mouth and that is what I do. I thought you had told me once that it would help your immune system or maybe she told me that?? I know it is supposed to be good to prevent colds or help you when you get one. This hay fever is killing me, and it has not rained here in over a month. We got a little sprinkle last week but no real rain. It is supposed to be 86 to 88 Saturday! I think they said this would be a record high for us. That is not good because it means January and February will be bugger bears!

Oh, no. The rain would at least knock some of the pollen off those blasted cedar trees. It’s been so warm here too . . I noticed the cedar trees starting to turn yellow/orange which means they are loading up on pollen. I thought I had escaped that when moving here but didn’t.
Being so warm there and here this time of year scares me because of tornadoes.
