There’s so much going on and really, compared to what others have going on these days, we don’t have much going on but compared to what normally goes on around here, we have a lot going on.
Addie is really a picky eater these days. She seems to go through periods where she will eat anything and everything and lots of it and then other times, she nibbles and says “I’m full!”. I’ve learned that when it’s your own child, you fight different battles than what you fight with the grandkids. Chad and Nicole don’t eat the way we eat. Chad loves to cook but gets home to late in the evenings to cook and weekends are jam packed with things going on. It’s easier to fix something Addie will eat and be done. I do try to fix things she should like. I don’t fix things with hairy fish, nor do I cook spicy foods but still, it’s been a struggle getting her to eat this week. I put small portions on her plate and tell her she has to eat at least most of it or she’s not getting any snacks. We eat between 3 and 4 and she’s not used to that but she should be hungry because she hasn’t eaten since breakfast. So, when she comes in near bedtime wanting Nutella and a bagel, I tell her I’ll heat up her plate, she can finish that, THEN have a bagel with Nutella. Some times she does it and some nights she doesn’t.
When Chad was her age, we ate at Fazoli’s often. Vince loves Fazoli’s and I do not. Just this morning we were talking about the places he loves and I don’t or I love them and he doesn’t. I thought Addie might like Fazoli’s so I asked Vince if he wanted to go there for a late lunch and he said yes. I kept thinking about it . . thinking about covid, thinking about having to put on makeup and get dressed, thinking about the traffic down in that part of town, and talked myself out of it.
I grabbed a pound of ground beef out of the freezer and was going to make beefy mac & cheese, aka, Cheeseburger Macaroni, which she loves. I could add green beans and a salad and make it a meal Vince and I would like. Then Vince came in and said he needed gas in the pickup so he was going to run to Walmart and get gas. He said “How does Little Caesar’s sound?” That was actually what I was thinking about yesterday but didn’t want to go out into the traffic to get it and I knew he didn’t want to but since he needed to go out for something else . . perfect.
Tomorrow we’ll have the Cheeseburger macaroni. Friday I’m not sure if I’m taking Addie home or Chad and Nicole are coming to get her. They want Santa to come to their house. Then they decided they’d bring all the Santa stuff here and do it here but . . they have two dogs. Speck is big, Bailey isn’t big but she’s not used to being here so that sounded like too much trouble so, last I heard, I’ll either take her home, they’ll meet me halfway and get her or they’ll come here to do some shopping and they’ll get her.
I’ve been really hungry for Instant Pot Zuppa Toscana so if Addie isn’t here on Friday, that’s what we’re having. If she is here, it will be leftover Cheeseburger Macaroni and/or pizza.

Addie sounds just like my grandkids – of similar age. Some days you can’t fill them up and other days they seem to live on air. We’ll have 2 of them here for a couple of days after Christmas and I think pizza will be on the menu at least once. LOL

Addie loves that Cheeseburger macaroni, which is what we’re having today. I keep Lunchables in the fridge and if she absolutely won’t eat what we’re having, she can have a Lunchable or she loves sandwiches on bagels. If she lived here, we’d work on eating habits but she doesn’t so we won’t. 🙂
