The black walnuts I ordered came in when I wasn’t feelilng so great so today, I opened up the bags and vacuum sealed them and stuck them in the freezer.
The bigger bag in the back has bigger pieces of walnut and I use those in a cake. The bags in the front are smaller pieces and I use those for cookies or ice cream. The cake recipe needs 8 oz. so I put up 8 bags each with 8 oz. The cookies and ice cream recipes each need about 5 oz. of nuts. I put up 15 bags with 5 oz. each.
I made a batch of cookie dough, divided it into fourths, vacuum sealed three bags of cookie dough for the freezer.
The recipe I use calls for chocolate chips or raisins and I don’t like either of those. I will use dried cranberries or coconut. Today I used coconut.
Vince is really the black walnut fan in the family. I asked him . . on a scale of 1 – 10, how are the cookies? He said . . 20 . . I think he liked them.

I think butterscotch chips might be good, too!
You do more on a day you don’t feel good than I do on a good day.

I really had been doing almost nothing for over a week. I am so glad to be feeling better. I’m guessing you do more than you think you do.

This must’ve been a good year for walnuts…. judging from how many were along the roads. I have memories of helping shell them as a kid and wearing gloves to church to hide my stained fingers! That was a few years back!!

That made me laugh because when I was a kid, I played outside as much as possible. Mom always kept little white gloves and on Sunday mornings, she would inspect my hands to see if I had to wear gloves to church. Really?? What kid didn’t often have stained or scraped up hands?

Walnut wood, probably all wood, is bringing a premium price these days so there’s been a lot of walnut trees in our area that have been cut this year. Hate to see any trees cut but I understand why people are doing it.
