Vince left about 8 this morning to go take his test for his ham radio license. He had to go to Lamar, which is about halfway between here and Chad. He texted me that he made 100. For Vince, anything less would have been very frustrating. That’s Reason #2 why I wouldn’t take the test. First, I can’t see me ever being interested in talking on the radio. Second, I would have been happy with the minimum number of correct answers just to pass the test
This morning I was thinking about whether to call him and ask him to bring home pizza. I didn’t feel like cooking but knew I should. Before I decided whether or not to call him, he called me to see if I would like pizza for our late lunch. YES!
I’ve been busy trying to kit projects I’m going to work on next year. We’re all different but I think, for me, knowing everything I want to stitch on is neatly tucked into a bag . . that kinda closes a door in my brain that keeps saying “Do you have this? Do you have that? You shoudl order more linen while you can get it!”
I’ve only done three so far but it takes about at least half an hour on each project. Pull all the floss. Decide on a fabric. Lay out the floss and see which ones need to be substituted. Put it in the bag and move on to the next one.
Here’s the breakdown of the charts I’m pulling and kitting:
- Scheduled Starts for 2022 – These are in my sidebar and there are 12 of these
- WIPGO Board – 11 (I may reduce that down to 10). Some of these are already started projects.
- Sunday Stitches – 6
That’s 29 projects – not all new projects. No doubt they won’t all get finished in 2022 but I think it will be fun and should keep me busy.

Congrats to Vince and I had to chuckle that you both were on the same wavelength with the pizza! I spent awhile gathering a number of my projects for the WIPGO and just ordered a bunch of floss…lol. I also brought up all the kits so I could calculate the fabric needed for each project. Once that is done I’ll have to go back downstairs to see what I have and then perhaps make another order, this time for fabric. As it stands I have 13 projects to finish kitting and 4 I already have in progress. I have 3 kits I will probably add and then that doesn’t include the Owl Forest charts so I have more than I need…lol Some of the other patterns I decided to just hold off on for now. Now to decide if I want to start all of them or just some.

We have such huge decisions we have to make! 🙂 I think I’m going to get them all kitted and then decide if I want to keep all the WIPGO projects or reduce it down to where I work on the same ones every week or every two weeks. Having them kitted is good so once that’s done, I’ll decide.

—I’m sure Vince would let you talk over the radio, even if you aren’t licensed. I like your project planning ideas, second to starting a new project, I enjoy kitting everything up. It is sort of like having a sous chef for cross stitch, when you are ready to stitch, there it is.

No. Talking on the radio without a license is like a federal offense. I love the planning and kitting. Today I don’t feel like stitching but apparently didn’t feel like kitting either. Went to sleep a little after 2 p.m. and slept til 8:30 so either I’ll be up late doing something or I’ll feel bad enough to go back to sleep after a while.

Hello Judy!! If Vince is licensed and with you, he can use his call sign and you CAN talk on the radio. Tell Vince that N8DNQ says hi! Years ago I went from Cincinnati to Detroit to take my licensing test. I no longer have any ham equipment, but it’s a great hobby!

I didn’t know that but no, I won’t talk on it if I don’t have my own license. Thanks for the info. He’ll love that you used yur call letters and said hello!

I know that Vince is a GT fan, but, if he is like me, he is also interested in Georgia. I went to Michigan, but I will cheer for other Big 10 teams, well maybe not the team that is south of Ann Arbor… So,I can’t believe that Georgia is losing right now (31-17). Yikes!!!
I have to wait another hour for the Michigan game. I think I might watch it in the quilt room so I can be distracted by cleaning, sewing, etc. I need to get a game plan for finishing up some projects and “kit” up some of the quilt projects for 2022.

Oh, no .. NOT Georgia! He actually was living in Athens when we met but Georgia and GT are big rivals.
I slept all afternoon – just woke up (8:30 p.m.) so I have no idea who won/lost or what he watched. Hope your team is winning.
