This morning the local Target opened at 7 a.m. The local news had a video on Facebook before the store opened and the line was all the way around the corner on the long side of the front.
It was 24 degrees last night so probably still well below freezing at 6:45 when the news was there. I didn’t listen to the video – just looked at the pictures but I’m wondering if people spent the night there.
Vince and I have been talking about that all day! We’re officially old and one of us is mostly not into shopping any more. We also aren’t into the hottest gadgets and electronics but I can’t think of a single thing we need for ourselves or anyone else that would have us waiting in line ever, especially on a freezing cold morning.
You have to admire the dedication of people who will go out and wait in line for a bargain or something in short supply.
So . . who went out and shopped today? Was it crowded? Were the shelves stocked adequately? Was the traffic a nightmare? Were people courteous and friendly (shoppers and store employees)? Did you find what you were looking for?

Not this girl. I need nothing nor do I want anything. I will go tomorrow and buy a wreath on Small Business Saturday at our local Nursery. Oops, I guess that means I do actually want something 😉
I “won” the carcass at my sister’s T-day celebration. Turkey sandwiches for dinner tonight and I finished an 11 quart pot of turkey veg soup that I’ll be sharing with my nephew/fam that just brought home their newborn daughter. No cooking for them tomorrow 🙂 Lil sis is taking them dinner today 🙂

I haven’t gone out on Black Friday in years now. Used to go to JoAnn and get stuff–but in reality–not that much savings vs the crowds. Only shopping I did was yesterday. Walmart had Pellon batting 90 inches 9 yards for 15.00 so I snagged 4 bolts of it. That was a steal. Nothing else though.
Elle says
I have a J store 2.5 miles from here. In the years I need batting, I will go up 10 minutes before opening and buy a bolt or 2. With the right coupon combo it’s usually about 35% of retail. I’m good until next year though. I don’t like the Pellon as much. It’s not nearly as even in thickness as W/N.

Went only once about 40 years ago to get something special for my dad. Never had the desire or the need to do that.

Black Friday shopping? Heaven forbid/11111

We had to do that when the kids were younger and we were broke. It was a “necessity” back then. I don’t know that there’s anything I’d do that for now!

My Husband was a dear one year and went and got in line at Best Buy for something I really wanted. He got it and I was very happy. My daughter moved here and she loves Wall-Mart Black Friday shopping which has not happened since 2019. She loves the deals on Movies. I went with her but I was smart and took my Mom’s walker with a seat and got to sit while waiting in line (inside the store).

There is nothing I need so desperately that would make me wait all night, or even get in a line before 6 a.m. I used to wait until late morning to venture out. This year, I didn’t go anywhere except to pick up a few grocery items I needed, and I waited until around 3 to do that. The grocery store had re-stocked some items I couldn’t find last time I was there, so that was good.

I did some black friday shopping. But online. No way I wanted to be in the stores. Covid is still a threat and my husband is immune compromised. I can pick up curbside and didnt need to be in a pushing match to get things.

I’m with you. I don’t mind shopping online but just walking up and down aisles, not happening, especially with Covid picking up in our area.

We were driving home today and there is the San Francisco outlet mall that we pass by and the freeway was backed up for at least 2 miles each way. My husband and I were laughing by the time the people get off the freeway and find a parking space the stores will be ready to close….these stores are a good deal if you want a Gucci purse that starts at $600.00 for $400.00, but I wouldn’t even buy any purse for $400.00…the stores are all high end stores so the sale prices are still extremely high.
And no I don’t shop on Black Friday.

We had to go to Sierra Vista (population 45,000) today to get an electric smoker Mike found on one of the Facebook Marketplace sites. The traffic was heavier but our only other stops were Lowes and Home Depot which weren’t crowded at all. Back in my younger days I shopped every Black Friday–you couldn’t pay me to get mixed up in those crowds now!

We went to Aldi, our usual Friday grocery shopping, about 10 am. Hardly anyone in the store. I noticed 2 $5 off stickers on some packages of meat and thought of you. I asked as we were checking out and the cashier told me that meant they were $10 off. I ran back and got some and there was still no one in line when I got back up front. Guess everyone was doing Black Friday Shopping, or still sleeping off their turkey dinners. I only got one package of steak, it was 1.75 pounds for $3.90!

Great deals! Chad went and said he got a couple of chickens that were almost nothing after they had discounts on them.

I couldn’t believe it, but I was at 2 different malls today. I only went to be with my daughter and two of her daughters and my niece. My husband drove us and dropped us off at the doors. He parked (not easy to find a space) and waited in the car for us. We were in one of the malls about 2.5 hours. He was a great sport and made it so much easier for us.

He was a good sport! That was very nice of him!

I did the same thing I do every year. I stayed home and recuperated from all the work I did cooking yesterday!

My husband wouldn’t even go to a hardware store (all ours are “big box”) today, despite the fact we need an aerator for our master bathroom sink faucet.
I made the mistake of going to Costco at mid-day on Tuesday. I found a parking space on the far side of the lot, but when I came out, I couldn’t see any empty spaces, and think I saw a vehicle circling. 😛

I haven’t gone Black Friday shopping in many years. There’s nothing out there I want bad enough to deal with big crowds and few cashiers since large box stores have gone self check out. Call it age or not, but this girl would rather stay home in the warm and sew.

We’re long past the age for Black Friday shopping – not that we ever enjoyed it. Bob always says he wouldn’t stand in a line like that if they were giving away free money at the end! However, I love on-line Black Friday shopping from the comfort of my chair. LOL
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Well, you know Vince said he wasn’t moving back to Missouri – even if they were giving away houses! They weren’t . . but we did! So, tell Bob to never say never. 🙂
When we lived in Kentucky, Vince and Chad would leave the house at daylight to get i nline for Black Friday shopping. It was a sport for them.
I’m with you on the online shopping. Never seem to get enough of that.

I usually don’t shop Black Friday but my local quilt shop had an awesome deal on Accuquilt and the ladies clothing store had deals too. I was the only shooter in the clothing store and there were about 10 shoppers at the LQS.

I did a Black Friday shopping thing about 25 years ago with a visiting sister and I didn’t buy anything! After that I didn’t see the point. 😀 I tried to get all my necessary shopping done before Thanksgiving this year….even went to Home Depot at 7:30am on Wednesday so I didn’t have to go anywhere. I did my local shop shopping last week too!
