Your comments almost always remind me of something from the past. This was the time Rita got into the turkey meat. I know I’ve told this story before.
Our house in Texas was very small. The kitchen, family room and dining room were all open and really one big (but not so big) room.
Rita came to our house 7 or 8 years ago in October so it was the first Thanksgiving she had been at our house.
Our friends invited us over for dinner. We were all done eating and they were going to throw the turkey carcass away so I asked for it. There was still lots of meat on it but I wanted it for turkey bone soup.
We brought it home; Vince sat at the table and picked all the meat off. He had a good sized plate full of meat. There was something going on outside so he washed his hands and we walked out. The meat was on the table. The dog is a chihuahua. Should be fine, right?
No! She was on the back of the sofa and she jumped from the back of the sofa onto the dining room table, ate her fill of turkey and somehow got down, probably when she heard us coming back inside. We came back into the house and after a while, Vince said “Why did you only get part of the meat off the plate?” I said “I haven’t touched the plate.” Really, about half of it was gone! We looked at Rita and both said “NO!! She didn’t! She couldn’t!” We were baffled for the longest time about how she got that meat until one day I had put food on the table for dinner and saw her jump from the back of the sofa onto the table.
Who would ever have thought she would do that!
We never pick the meat off a turkey carcass that we don’t think about that day and laugh.

We had a Springer Spaniel we rescued from the streets (we called him our little street urchin). For the first 8 months or so after we got him, we had to put bread, pastries, chips, etc, on top of the refrigerator every time we left the house. He would snatch things off the counter – or open the pantry door to help us with its disposal. He was the funniest dog! Eventually, he stopped his indoor scavenger hunts.

Thank goodness Rita didn’t get into more stuff or, if she did, we never knew it.

How funny! I don’t think you had told that story before. Wish there was a video!

A video would have been funny now . . probably not so much then.
