My plan was to start First Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving Eve. It was getting late Wednesday evening, I was so tired from all the cooking so I told Addie last night that I was going to sit, with no interruptions and make 100 stitches. I told her . . when I’m done, I’ll let you know so no questions til I say “I’m done!”
I got my 100 stitches made and put it away. Then yesterday I got up early. The house was quiet and I sat down to get 100 more stitches made before time to start preparing for company to arrive.
After everyone left yesterday evening, I picked up the stitching again, looked at it and could see that something wasn’t right . . of course!
See that little loop thing at the bottom almost in the middle? That shouldn’t be there. I looked at the chart. That’s exactly how it’s charted. I looked at the picture of the finished piece . . not on that one. Almost all the stitches I had made that morning had to come out. I think I had to rip out 96 of the 100 stitches I had made. Frustrating.
There may be another mistake in the bottom border. Not sure about that. I’ve written the designer to find out but it’s a while before I get to that part.
Last night I ripped back, then started stitching that area again but didn’t even get as far as I had gone the first time. I may put this away til I hear back about the other border issues.
I have some work to do it in the kitchen – mopping and getting some things put away that I had out for Thanksgiving so it may be a few hours before I get back to cross stitching this morning.

Oh no!! I hope you get a quick answer from the designer. I sometimes wonder if the demand to get designs out quickly makes the chance of errors higher. I was thinking of quitting cross stitch when I was running into issues with A Changed World. I finally fixed the center tree the other day. I feel your pain about ripping out. Yesterday I started on my Thanksgiving stitch, Gratitude by Lizzie Kate. I had a couple of words done and then realized I had my cloth oriented the wrong way. It probably would have been okay but I didn’t want to chance it. Had to take it all out and restart and then I had to rip back again because I messed up on one word. Hopefully that’s the end of that for awhile!

It is frustrating and when the model is being stitched, you’d think people would notice and report these things. Maybe for some who are more experienced, they just “read” it correctly without even noticing an error. I don’t know but it is frustrating.
