Last night Vince decided he wanted to take a long bath. We always take showers. I told him to close the door because Boots knows nothing about a bath tub and I could see him sailing in there and landing on Vince.
I was thinking Vince would close the bathroom door but he closed the bedroom door. Boots meowed and paced, went downstairs, came back upstairs, paced, meowed, stretched out in front of the bedroom door and made desperate sounding pleas for the door to be opened so he could get to Vince.
When Vince came out, I told him that Boots had been really worked up that the door was closed and he couldn’t get in there. When Vince went back to shave, Boots went in the bedroom and got in our bed and watched Vince the whole time he was in there.
Then Vince went downstairs to watch TV. I was hopefully that Boots would go downstairs and stay with Vince. He did for a few minutes but then he came back up and curled up on my lap. I get so much cat hair in my cross stitching when he’s on my lap but he’s such a good kitty, I’m not going to complain.
I think he didn’t like the door being closed. So long as he can go back and forth to whichever one of us he wants to be with, he’s fine but lock him out and he’s not happy.
I can’t even remember the last time he bit me. Any time he starts nosing around my ankles or feet, I get nervous because those are his favorite nibble zones but so far, no biting at all.

My cat also hates a closed door. As soon as it is opened she walks away. It’s that “curiosity killed the cat” thing. It’s for real!

It’s a “cat thing” – they don’t like closed doors. Our big cat used to come in a sit on the edge of the tub when I was soaking in a nice bubble bath. He would reach in and occasionally swat a bubble. And usually his tail would end up wet. Only once that he fell in on top of me. He wasn’t happy about that at all.

Thank you. I didn’t know that cats don’t like closed doors. I figured if Boots fell in, that would not be good and I’d end up with an unhappy cat, an unhappy husband and a huge mess to clean up.

I still think he was lonely for Vince! He knew he was supposed to be there and he wasn’t!

Well hate to tell you this but some cats like the bathtub. I had one who loved it. Closed doors well no. I have one that screams like crazy till you open it. Not that she wants in mind you she just doesn’t want it closed. Now she bits too sometimes. She can be curled up wanting me to pet her. We are going along fine then next thing she bits me and takes of running away. Then comes right back. I’m beginning to think they don’t know they bite. Never breaks the skin thank heavens but still. cats are weird I’ve had some all my life and still don’t understand. They each one are different. The two we have now are like none we’ve ever had before ever in 50 years. Not like dogs at all.
