Last night we were sitting . . I was stitching and Vince was doing something on the computer across the room. I’m thankful that he was looking at the computer and not at me. He said “Do you have everything you need now for cross stitching?”
My first thought was . . this is a trick question . . be very careful what you say. If I say I have everything I need, and packages continue to arrive, you know where that’s going to lead. If I say I still need things, his next questions . . what do you need? If I say floss . . no! If I say charts . . no!
He could see that I was trying to figure out how to answer the question. He knows how I operate! 🙂
He said “I’m just asking because for a while, there were a lot of packages arriving every day and lately there haven’t been any.”
Bite your tongue, Judy . . bite your tongue!
The truth is twofold. First, there are way fewer packages arriving because I do have most everything I need. That’s not to say a few charts won’t arrive from time to time. Second, Vince has been either downstairs or out working in the back when the mail has arrived the last few times packages were delivered. Only one cross stitch related package has arrived this week. It was small and he wasn’t upstairs when it arrived.
I said “Well, how do you ever know when you might need something? I think I have all the floss I need but if there’s a chart I want to make and it has a lot of a color I might need, and it’s the perfect color and there isn’t a substitute that works great, I may have to order floss.”
I went on to tell him . . I don’t need any linen. I’m sure I have all I’ll ever use plus some but when an amazing color, I’m getting it.
Right now I’m on a search for Legacy by Picture This Plus. I told him . . If I ever find it, I’m buying a whole yard! I could see the wheels turning. Vince prides himself, and rightfully so, with being able to find what no one else can find so now Vince is on a search for Legacy linen.
Isn’t it funny . . I wasn’t trying to convince him that I needed more, not less, but now he’s trying to help enhance my linen stash! I’m sure when he posed that initial question to me, he was not planning on helping me find linen. 🙂

Right because he can’t fuss at himself when packages arrive and he won’t remember what he ordered so every package that arrives, I can say “Oh .. this arrived today that you ordered. Thank you!” This could definitely work to my advantage.

Enabler alert. I don’t use linen myself, but give the Craft Gallery in Findlay Ohio a call. I was in there once and another customer was all excited about a particular brand of linen they had. Evidently she was happy with the selection they had. I can’t remember what kind it was.

…maybe Vince was thinking Christmas gift?? …maybe he has already bought what he needs for the forseeable future so he was checking if he could shop for you?? He seems to enjoy shopping more than most men. I couldn’t drag my husband to the mall.

Part of it is that we’re stuck at home for at least four more days of our isolation after having been exposed to Covid and I think he’s totally about to go nuts and starting to do insane things . . like shop for cross stitch supplies. 🙂

I would be willing to bet he is thinking of Christmas. Since you have a little one to share the season with, he may be getting the spirit! Besides if you get the miter saw and you don’t like it, he gets a new saw!!

This brings up one of the little known disadvantages of retirement…no privacy! I used to be able to open and hide my stuff, but my husband takes pride in getting the mail every day and there are no more secrets! I have given up driving due to the pain drugs I take so I can’t even go to the quilt shop by myself! I do love him, but enough is enough!

Well, Christmas is coming!

I have less luck getting linen from them than from just about anywhere. They have in several places “Our website does not show real time inventory”. I wrote them to see if they have it in stock and they’re usually quick to write back but I’m willing to bet they don’t have it. They’re a well known and popular shop and with no one else having it, that’s one of the first places everyone would look for it.
