Goodness, this has been a long week with a little stress thrown in just to keep us on our toes.
Tuesday morning we were just waking up and I asked Vince . . is today Wednesday? He thought about it for a minute and confirmed for me that it was Wednesday. We began getting trash loaded up because our trash man comes on Thursday so we break down boxes we’ve unpacked, empty out anything we can empty out, clean out the fridge, and do all that on Wednesday.
We checked the weather to see what the temps were going to be for the next few nights. We should have realized then that it was Tuesday. We went through the entire day thinking it was Tuesday.
Just before dark, Vince asked me to check the weather again and make sure it wasn’t going to be colder than we had expected. When I looked at the weather and it had Wednesday’s forecast . . I thought . . maybe today isn’t Wednesday. I looked at my phone and I said “Vince, today is Tuesday!” No! He grabbed his phone, then he looked at something on the computer. We were both laughing at ourselves and sure enough . . it had been Tuesday all day.
Then when the real Wednesday got here, it was like an extra day because we had kinda already had Wednesday. Thursday flew by and here it is Friday and almost the weekend. That’s weird also . . what difference does it make if it’s the weekend when you’re retired? Still, we always look forward to weekends.
It’s supposed to be pretty here today and through the weekend . . I think, but never trust me. Obviously if I don’t even know what day it is, I can’t be counted on to know the weather. We might plant a few trees. We might clean out the garden. I need to cut the asparagus. It was droopy looking yesterday and will probably be pretty dead looking by the end of the weekend.
Mostly, I’m looking forward to an extra hour’s sleep on Saturday night!
Surely today there will be some amount of cross stitching but probably not enough to finish Love Your Family. By Saturday night, I am going to have that rascal finished!!

Hubby and I have done that exact thing more than once since we retired. 🙂

The Tuesday Wednesday kerfuffle made me chuckle. I’m thinking that will be something that will happen to us when my husband retires and I’m looking forward to it! I too am looking forward to that extra hour of sleep this weekend and I happily reminded my husband that in the spring when it changes getting up an hour earlier won’t matter because he’ll be retired!

Retirement is definitely something to look forward to. Even though I wasn’t workng, Vince’s retirement made such a difference for us. Life is so much easier and less hectic. We’re able to do things on a whim . . even if it’s just run to Chick-fil-A at 2 p.m. for an early dinner or go to the diner at 11 for a late breakfast. OK . . it’s obvious our life revolves around eating but still, life is easier without having to go to work.

I’m still working, yet I often have to ask my husband what day it is!
