This morning on my Facebook memories, this picture showed up from 7 years ago.
Speck was so spoiled and had such an attitude, we would never have guessed that he would have accepted another dog in the house but by the time Rita came along, he was old and losing his hearig and probably having some vision issues so I think he saw her as a helper and they never had any problems. He would sometimes growl at her when she wanted to play and he wanted to be left alone but I don’t think he would ever have hurt her.
In that picture, you can see just the edge of her bed but instead of being in her bed, she’s on the rug . . closer to Speck.
I keep wanting a dachshund and Vince says “No! Rita wouldn’t be nice to another dog.” Honestly Rita has about 3 teeth left. If she wasn’t nice . . what’s the worst thing she could do?
Today we’re babysitting Chad’s Corgi. How did that happen? He called this morning and said they were coming to Joplin to do a few things and wanted to know if we would keep Bailey? Huh? She’s a dog! She stays home all day by herself while they’re at work and school . . what’s a few hours on a Sunday afternoon alone? I think Chad is trying to help me get another dog and wanted to show Vince how sweet Bailey is.
So, they’re off shopping. I’m dog sitting. I closed the gate so she can’t go in by Rita. Neither dog seems interested in the other one. Bailey is pretty happy to find a quiet place where she can sit and watch the door and wait for her family to return.

My DIL once asked me to go by their house and “visit” with their dog because she was going to be alone for 9 hours, instead of her usual 8. Not that I even needed to let her out to do her business, but just “break up her day”. I did manage to go by but I almost wanted to just say yes, I had when my DIL asked and to not bother. How would my DIL even know if I had been there or not? LOL
