I should not have sat down. I may never get up. I didn’t realize how tired I was til I sat down.
This morning I decided it was a good day to clean windows. It took a good chunk of the day but I got all of them cleaned except the ones I need to be on a ladder to reach and Vince will have to help me with those.
Somewhere in the middle of the window cleaning, Vince wanted breakfast. I wasn’t going to take the time to make biscuits and making toast meant we wouldn’t have any bread left and I had planned to have soup and sandwiches for our meal.
We ended up with one regular loaf and one tiny loaf.
I can make perfect eggs on a gas stove. I know . . probably everyone else in the world can make perfect eggs on an electric stove but I cannot!
Breakfast was served and it was time to deal with the baked beans. Yesterday I thought today was going to be an easy day so I put 5 pounds of beans on to soak. Half of them were yellow eye and half were great northern beans. No matter what else was going on, the beans had to be cooked and canned since they were already soaking.
I had to cook half of them in the big Magnalite pot and half in a cast iron dutch oven.
Once they had been in the oven for three or four hours, they went into jars and got canned. Seven quarts are done, six pints are in the canner now.
For lunch, I added the leftover roast beef and gravy to the lima bean and okra soup I made the other day. Served it over rice and didn’t make sandwiches since it seemed more like a meal than soup. I had intended to make corn muffins but with bread in the oven, and canning the beans, I ran out of steam.
The pints in the canner should be done about 7:15. I can clean the kitchen and hopefully get a bit of cross stitching done but . . I am tired!
