Please read all the way through this.
First, this is a Russian site. You have to decide if you’re comfortable ordering directly from them. Owl Forest has a Facebook group and seems to have a great reputation. Several floss tubers I follow have ordered directly from them and had merchandise shipped to the U.S. without any issues.
Second, if you are comfortable working with a pdf, here is a link to the pdf version on their site. Make sure you are ordering the English version! There is a Russian version right next to it. I have checked and double checked my link but please do your own checking.
Because I didn’t want to recommend this to you before I tried it, I ordered the pdf. Also, because I much prefer to stitch from the Pattern Keeper app than from paper but let’s just pretend I did it all for you! 🙂
The USD cost tonight was $8.93. That may fluctuate a bit. Often with international charges, there is a fee. All I can think of now is a translation fee but that’s not what it’s called. I’ve never had it be more than a couple of dollars but I don’t think I’ve ever converted to Russian currency. I just checked and there isn’t a fee posted yet.
The design was immediately in my inbox. I downloaded it just fine. It is 27 pages but .. you won’t believe what all you get. There is the normal black and white chart, the color chart, and a bunch of little individual motifs. I didn’t look to see if they’re the same ones included in the chart but posted separately to make it easy to stitch and I was in a hurry to import it into Pattern Keeper so I could report on how that worked.
Also, depending on how you prefer to stitch, you can print just the black and white chart or just the color chart – no need to print all 27 pages unless you just want to do it.
It imported perfectly. No problems at all (which is more than I can say for quite a few of the designs I try to import).
So, if you are ok with using a credit card for a foreign purchase (I used Paypal), I’m saying that I did it, the chart was immediately sent to me and downloaded with no hitches.
Again, you think about it and decide if it’s something you’re comfortable doing – don’t take my word for it.
P.S. I think the extra fee charged by the bank is called something like a foreign exchange fee.

I had to go check them out and they have some beautiful charts! I am really tempted by some of them and will have to go back tomorrow and order some. I probably should check and see what the exchange rate is before I go ordering though. I would like to know how much I’m spending before hitting the return button…lol

There are plenty of calculators online and very easy to check. I think I posted that the pdf that is shown as “600” was actually $8.93. I do always check the exchange rate because it changes – not a lot but, like you, I want to be sure before making the decision.

Transaction fee.

Thank you. My bank calls it a “foreign transaction fee” and I only pay it on foreign transactions. I just went back and found one and on a recent purchase from someone in France, on an $8 charge, the foreign transaction fee was 11 cents.

You are such an enabler. First I have to buy the paper pattern and then the pdf….hehehe I know it is my own fault. Now I have to decide if I want to do one large piece or several small pieces. I’m thinking they would be great as small pillows for a dough bowl or even as ornaments.

I’m going to do the larger one but I may also do some smaller ones and, with the pdf, I COULD start a smaller one today! I won’t. I have to finish Love Your Family.

At first my trying to purchase was rejected by Pay Pal. Come to find out I had on Wed. a fraud alert on my card. It was not fraud and I cleared it with my credit union. Well when I called the credit union fraud department they made the mistake and did not clear or remove the previous block and so when that was done I got my chart. Glad that I had to do the clear the card as I am off to the gocery store and if my card did not work there well that would be a real problem.

Good thing you bought that chart! 🙂

….Thanks for the info. I got it. I don’t mind printing it. Now, I have to see about the cloth and floss. I probably don’t even have an embroidery hoop any longer. Gee whiz.

I mostly stitch in hand and since that one is fairly small, I’ll probably do that. But . . this goes to prove that we should never get rid of anything!

Thanks, enabler, I mean friend! I like watching other people’s progress on stitching, and usually I am safe reading your blog because I don’t do that much cross stitch. But this one dragged me in — I don’t think I am going to order it, but I am most likely going to order a kit of a different design from an etsy seller. There were a lot of fun free charts on the site that people should check out, too. One thing to note — I look at the specifications, and all the ones I saw said the charts are for A4 paper. So, just be aware of that if you try to print them out on 8 1/2 by 11.

Judy…really you have pulled many of your readers down this rabbit hole with you…..HAHAHA.
I wasn’t going to do it, but the price is so very good compared to some samplers that are that size are $20-$30 dollars. So down the rabbit hole I went….I’ve decided I’m liking it down the hole…

We could be doing worse, right? Maybe we need to have an “In the rabbit hole party!”. 🙂
