I thought this day would never get here! Today is the last day the construction guys will be here. I feel like a whiner because they’re doing such a good job but I need a tomato. I have to go out, walk around where they’re working. I need a pepper . . same thing. I take Rita out and go out front, thinking they’re all in the back. No, some of them are in the front. I’ve been trying to dress decent, comb my hair, wear a bra . . it’s so hard. 🙂
I’ll take better pictures once they’re gone. They didn’t get the deck stained. Too much rainy weather. There was some discussion about Vince staining the deck. That would work much better because these guys are moving on to other jobs and for them to have to watch the weather and find a day when the deck is dry and it isn’t going to rain for at least 24 hours and the temp is right . . it will work better if Vince does it. I can help him. Maybe.
This was the smallest project but probably the one I’m going to enjoy a lot.
This one is at the edge of the driveway. In fact, top right, you can see a little piece of the concrete pad that was poured for the smoker. The blocks need a couple of days to set up/dry . . whatever, and then Vince will backfill it. We can plant pretty flowers in the spring. We’ll mulch it all, put a little table and 3 or 4 chairs there and when Addie wants to ride her bike on our little road or ride her hoverboard on the driveway or draw with sidewalk chalk, I can sit out there and knit or read but keep an eye on her.
You can’t see this spot from the side road and the road in front of our house only has one house besides ours so it’s still a bit of a private setting.
Vince and I will use the pergola in the evenings but to get to it, we have to either go down the stairs in the house and through the downstairs garage (there’s a garage door and a walk through door) or to off the deck, down the short stairs and walk down the hill to the pergola. It’s close to Vince’s shop and I think he’s going to use it for carving and taking a break while he’s out working in the shop but I think the little table out front is one I’ll use a lot.
Once the guys leave today, we’re not doing anything as far as projects. I’m not going to look for a table for the front. I’m not looking for furniture for the pergola. I hope to sit inside and cross stitch for a few days.
I do want to get my rosemary plant out of the pot and into the ground. If the guys leave early enough today, I’ll probably do that.
In fact, we have rain in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

We’re getting rain, thunder and lightning now. Some wind. I had put a couple plants waiting to be put in the ground into what I hope is a safe enough place. Lightning is getting worse. I’m thinking it will work its way to you!

It was supposed to be here around 9 a.m., then they said 10 a.m. It’s 11:24 a.m. and just starting to drizzle but I haven’t looked at the weather in a few hours. Hope it didn’t get too bad for you.
