Congratulations to us! Vince and I both received a certificate after completing our lesson last night.
We still have a few more classes to complete . . I think. And, we have to do 30 hours of volunteer work but we can’t start that til January 1.
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time but probably would not have done it if Vince hadn’t done it with me. He became a Master Gardener many years ago in Georgia but hasn’t kept up with the continuing education so he just started over with me.
Now . . I can tell my plants I’m a Master Gardener and I’m going to expect a lot out of them! 🙂

Congratulations! I almost signed up several times to do this but the timing wasn’t right. Next year probably won’t either since my husband will be newly retired and I hope to do some traveling.

The good thing right now is that most places are doing the lessons online with no in person meetings. We usually listen to 5 or 6 videos, each are about 15 – 20 minutes long, then we take the test and answer a few discussion questions.
The 30 hours of community service can be performed during a 12 month period. We can work in gardens at places like the local library or any garden maintained by the Master Gardener group or we can do volunteer work in the Department of Ag or County Agent’s office. I’m sure there are other opportunities but I would think even traveling, it shouldn’t be a problem to do it.

Congrats – and did you get any stormy weather yesterday??? The OKC area has 70% of severe weather tomorrow night. Oh well…..

You stay safe! We did not. We were supposed to get really bad weather but it went north of us and east of us. I had taken Addie to meet Chad and Nicole halfway about 1 because I wanted everyone to be safe at home before the storms hit. Thankful we didn’t get them but sorry for those who did.

This is great!! Maybe you can find a community garden to work in and get your volunteer hours.

They provide us with lists of approved tasks we can do for community service hours. The local Master Gardener group maintains the gardens at a couple of local libraries, as well as entrances to parks. We can also do volunteer work in the county agent’s office or the USDA office.

Yes, and I love gardening so it’s fun. Having taken the class may not change a whole lot I do but it makes me think. My guess is working with other master gardeners, I’ll learn more too.
