Friday Happenings

Today has been crazy busy. Vince woke me up this morning before 5 talking . . I tried to be nice but finally I said “If you’re not going back to sleep PLEASE get out of bed so I can go back to sleep!” Nope, kept talking so about 5:15, I said “I’m getting up!” Of course, he got up too. About 8, I said I’m going back to bed. He can’t go back to sleep like that but I can so I went back to bed and slept for a while.

There’s some place in Nevada, MO he wanted to go so he went with me to get Addie. We left early and the plan was for me to drop him off at his place, I’d go by Chad & Nicole’s, get Addie’s stuff, then go pick her up after school but we made the mistake of going by a small post office to try to send a package to the UK and . . that wasn’t happening. Twice Vince said “We’ll just take the package with us and come back later. We’re kinda in a hurry but the lady kept trying to figure it out. Finally, Vince said “We’re going to be late picking up the granddaughter. We really have to go!” So, she handed us back the package and we left.

We got to the store Vince wanted to visit and they were closed . . there was a sign on the door but we didn’t read it. By that time, we didn’t have time to go by their house and get Addie’s stuff so we went and got her, then went by the house. I have a garage door opener for their garage and it wouldn’t work. We tried everything . . nope . . not going to work.

I called Nicole. Not sure what we would do because I knew she uses the opener that’s built in to her car so I couldn’t go by and get that one and I didn’t want to take her car and drive it home and then have to take it back to her but lucky for us, she has a key to her house so we went to her work, got the key, went back to her house, got Addie’s stuff and left the key on the table. After we left, I thought . . I hope it isn’t that the garage door is broke because we left her key locked inside the house and it would be probably 7:30 or 8 tonight before Chad gets home. But, the garage door opened for her. She’s going to make me a house key for each of my key rings so we don’t have to go through that again. By then, Addie was hungry and there was really no place on that end of town to eat so we ran by the Mexican place close to our house and got food for her.

We’ve really accomplished nothing today, except for getting Addie here, and the day is almost over!

We’re supposed to have wild weather Sunday afternon – hail, high winds and a chance of tornadoes. I’m not sure how we’re going to get the girl home. I didn’t realize that was in our forecast til I heard the weather man talking about it on the radio on our way home today.

We’ve talked about having her stay til Monday and us getting her to school but she has to be there by 7:40 and neither of us drive at dark and we’d have to leave here by 6:30 to get her there on time. I’d like to talk Chad and Nicole into coming here and having dinner and being here where we have a basement in case the weather gets bad but the weather isn’t supposed to get better til 7 p.m. and that would put them getting home at 8 p.m. and that’s late on a Sunday night.

We could have storms tonight around midnight so I think we’re all sleeping in the basement tonight and probably tomorrow night. I love storms but not scary storms! These are all going to be scary storms. The weather man said it could be bad enough that people have a hard time sleeping because of bright lightning and loud thunder.

We’ll hope for the best!
