I am so happy to have my kitchen back together. Electric outlets screwed back in, plates on them, power is on. Vince’s tools have all been removed. I still can’t make a greasy mess but I could plug in the Google Home thing and have music and work in the kitchen.
The first thing I did was fill small jars with sweetened condensed milk to make into caramel using the sous vide.
Next, I got yogurt going. Vince has been wanting yogurt but with the power to the outlets being turned on and off so much, I didn’t want to risk having a batch of yogurt ruined so I got that going.
Next I made bread, fed two jars of sourdough, chopped up a quart of dried lemongrass.
Vince had gone with a friend just after lunch to do some work with his bees. Vince was watching . . not working with the bees and somewhere in that same area was a cherry tree that had been cut or damaged and had to be cut and Vince wanted some of the wood for smoking wood and for making bowls so they made two trips from here to there and back bringing wood here.
I was thinking I could sit back and relax while Vince was gone but it ended up I went out and planted 15 to 20 rhubarb plants, then planted a few mums that I had meant to plant earlier. They may not make it but they weren’t going to make it for sure if I didn’t plant them.
Came in and hadn’t been in long when a friend called to see if we wanted to come pick green beans. My bread was in the oven so I had to wait til that was done. We picked a ton of green beans. I got one gallon of cleaned, snapped beans but that didn’t make much of a dent in that box of beans. I’ll finish tomorrow and get them canned.
Sat down and it was just getting dark. A friend had called so I called them back. They needed help with something heavy so we left again, helped them, got back home and I think we’re done for the night.
I have to laugh! In Texas, we would go weeks without seeing anyone other than the occasional delivery person. Here, our house is really like Grand Central Station these days. Always someone coming or going. It’s weird .. in a good way. I keep telling Vince . . I feel more like I’m actually live a great life here.
