Addie is having fun organizing my Victoria Clayton bobbins of floss.
She helped sort the bobbins that were upstairs but her parents are on their way to get her so we’ll tackle the bobbins that are in the sewing room next time she’s here. I love these little boxes from JoAnn. I’ve ordered several bobbin boxes and none that were specifically for bobbins would work because Victoria Clayton’s bobbins are bigger than any of the bobbins the cases I have are meant to house.
These little pink boxes are called “5 Compartment Storage Boxes” and they are close to perfect for the Victoria Clayton bobbins.
Each little box will hold 30 bobbins. I have them sorted by color. When trying to do my own conversion, it’s easier to match called for floss with Victoria’s silks if they’re sorted by color.
The little boxes also stack and stay together nicely. I will eventually have everything sorted and boxes for red, orange, yellow/gold,green, blue, purple/violet, gray, brown, beige/cream/tan.
I did get a few of these Handiquilter bobbin boxes and have more on order. There are other brands but they’re all close to (or maybe exactly) the same.
Since these are for the larger “M” bobbins, I thought maybe the silk bobbins would fit but they don’t. I kept looking at that and thinking . . I know I can make these work, and I did.
I cut out the little horizontal dividing sections and the bobbins fit perfectly. I can keep 24 bobbins in these. Most of my projects won’t require more than 24 different colors.
These are nice for storing threads for projects because I can keep needles and a small pair of scissors in there.
I taped the conversion info on the inside of the bobbin box, and I stuck an extra copy in the project bag and I stuck one in the ottoman where I store projects that I’m hoping to work on soon. I know how I am and I would lose that conversion info in no time flat!

Does the conversion chart convert DMC to Victoria Clayton Silks?

Yes. I ordered the packet from Victoria Clayton. She does the converting from DMC to her silks.
I’m not sure it’s a conversion from DMC but it’s from whatever the called for flosses were. Even when the called for is silk, they often still list DMC but the “conversion” I have was done by Victoria Clayton.

What a great idea! They’d be perfect to store your floss in when it’s been pulled for a project too. The best things is the boxes are very inexpensive. Thank you!

I love both kinds of boxes and I think they’re perfect for these bobbins but I’m sure there are lots of great things these boxes could be used for. I love that the little pink boxes stack and sort of “connect”. I’m going to print little labels for them so I can keep them staked on a bookshelf in the sewing room.
