Vince wanted to go to town this morning. I asked what he needed and really couldn’t think of anything. He’s been to town every day for the past week, except one. Really, I’m betting he’s been to town every day for the past two weeks except the one day this week when it was raining pretty much all day. I don’t mind so long as (1) he’s happy to go without me and (2) all the junk he buys goes into the shop and not into the house or into the garage.
This morning I said “I think I’ll make tuna salad for lunch.” Cook the eggs in the pressure cooker – no mess on the stove or tile. Vince said “Oh, good. I wanted tuna salad yesterday!” I asked why he didn’t tell me and he said “Because you aren’t cooking til the kitchen is finished.” Glad he got that message. This morning he grouted the pencil tile and IF we’re lucky, tomorrow he’ll seal the grout and we’ll be done with this project.
About an hour later, Vince said “What are we going to use for bread?” We just bought bread probably Wednesday. Nope, I think there are only two pieces left. Then he said “I’ll run to Walmart.” I said “NO! I have a grocery order coming this evening. I’ll add bread to the order.” I looked and there were three pieces of bread so . . a whole sandwich for him and half a sandwich for me. That was good.
Several times Vince said “Do you need anything from the store? I’ll go!” Nope, don’t need anything from the store but thanks!”
A few minutes ago, he said “I feel like I want to go to the fleal market and walk around without being rushed.” Huh? Rushed?
So, he’s off to the flea market and goodness knows where else he’ll stop but, I’m thanful he’s doing what he enjoys and that he’s happy to go alone.

My husband needs to go somewhere everyday. And no he isn’t trying to get away from me as he always asks if I want to go with him. I don’t think men can be as content at home as women are. At least he is happy going alone most days and I can get a few things done while he is gone.

Do you consider buying linen and floss as shopping?
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Yes, but I would not go to the needle shop every single day and buy one piece of floss. I’d make a list and get what I want in one trip. If he wants to shop online all day every, day, I don’t have a problem. With Covid, we’re trying to stay home and not go out and be around people more than we need to.

Covid is a very good point. I understand more now.

Maybe I’m wrong (it has happened before . . like every 2 minutes!) but when I think of shopping, I think of walking into a shop – let’s say a cross stitch shop . . not needing anything but picking up everything and looking at it. Putting some things in my basket, then taking them out, then deciding what I want to keep, etc. . . that’s what I call shopping. When I have a list, run in the store, get one chart, the linen to go with it (and I already knew which linen I wanted), I don’t call that shopping because I just run in and get what I want.
When I do go inside the grocery store, I have a list (always have done it this way). I get what’s on my list. I don’t look at anything else. That’s why I never know what’s new and fun in the grocery store. Vince, on the other hand, goes down every aisle, picks up everything, buys half of it. We have different ways of “shopping”.

Sounds like a bored man. You need to make him a “honey-do” list LOL

He still needs to stain and seal the floors in the shop. Move his stuff into the shop! He has PLENTY to do (finish the tile!). Pull the walnut trees (sprouts that have taken root) out so I can plant my rhubarb. I long ago stopped with the list because that was a source of . . let’s say . . it was detrimental to a happy marriage. 🙂

It’s the ‘hunter’ in Vince that makes him want to go shopping. He’s looking for a kill. Better shopping than hunting any day. Perhaps he should take up foraging in the woods for nuts and berries.

Oh, he’d hunt if he had a place. Meat is expensive! We still have canned venison from Texas.

Vince could join a hunt club that has a hunting lease on someone’s land. I’m guessing that leases and membership may be inexpensive in SW MO or in NW AR. Each state’s hunting seasons vary. (Deer season in MS usually opens the week before Thanksgiving.)

He wouldn’t enjoy that. He would hunt if we had our own land but he doesn’t enjoy it enough to go somewhere else and do it. Chad is an avid hunter. He and Nicole both hunt and bow season is going on now so it makes a win/win for me to keep Addie so they can hunt during the weekends.
