Last night I was watching “Two Tarts & Their Starts“, the ladies from The Attic. They were talking about Carolyn’s mom, who is 86 years old, and she just learned to cross stitch and she’s loving it.
That made me smile because I was thinking . . I should buy more charts! I had figured I might cross stitch til I’m 77 years old but that doesn’t give me time to get everything done that I’ve purchased but .. if I can cross stitch til I’m 87 years old . . I need more charts!
Raise your hand if you think Vince is going to buy into that line of thinking. OK . . that’s what I thought. No hands are raised.
Yesterday I was reading about the cost of living increase for social security and I was calculating and thinking . . I can buy more cross stitching supplies but then I read that the increase may cause social security to go broke a year sooner than they’ve been projecting. Vince is probably thinking we should stop spending and save for when/if social security is cut and I’m thinking . . I’d better spend more while we have it coming in! 🙂
I’m not real concerned – nothing I can really do about it anyway. But I thought it was worth sharing that Carolyn’s mom is cross stitching. Carolyn said she and her mom cross stitch together every night and sometimes, they cross stitch til midnight! That’s how I want to live when I’m 86. Stay up half the night and sleep half the day! 🙂

I know understand conversations with my parents regarding SS COLA increases…..and how they use to laugh at what a big deal the govt made of announcing those – and forgetting to announce that increases in SS also go hand in hand with increases in Medicare premiums etc! You never stop sounding like your parents…

Right. We had a phone chat with our investment person this morning and were laughing (though it isn’t funny), that this will be the first year that the COLA increase will at last cover the Medicare increase because, at least for us, it has not been enough to cover that cost until now. Of course, with everything else up, the increase doesn’t start to make the buying power the same but that’s why most cannot live on social security alone.

If you don’t buy more charts now, that means you can look at all the new ones when you start to run out of what you have! I think that will be more fun to look forward to!

I think you’re right!

Judy, I recently turned 76 and thanks to you and Denise I am once again Cross Stitching. I have also been buying charts and thread. I only have four charts so far plus the one I am working but I am sure that will increase! Lolo my hubby calls me “Rockefeller.” If it was only Cross stitch but I got an AccuQuilt Go for Christmas and I have been buying Dies like crazy! Don’t have time to quilt though, I am Cross Stitching!
Stopping is not in my vocabulary so I might be eighty six before you know it!

Way back when I was cross stitching, a friend at church and I agreed we would have to live to 112 to use all the charts we each had! Then I got into quilting which took over my life! Now, x-st comes back into my life, through YOU, Judy, and I have a chart to pick up at local shop tomorrow and I bought two while there to order this one.
I think that’s called being an enabler, Judy! I do love you though!
