This recent flu shot is about to get the best of me. This morning I got up and was fine. By 8 a.m., I was feeling bad again. Went back to bed and slept til 11. I got up and I wanted to eat but had no idea what I wanted and surely didn’t feel like standing outside and cooking. Vince said he had to run to Walmart . . “come go with me and we’ll find something to eat along the way”. I stayed in the car while he did wahtever he had to do in Walmart.
We passed the Pho restaurant and Vince asked if that sounded good. I wasn’t sure but a burger or pizza didn’t sound any better so we stopped at Pho4Ever, got soup and it was perfect.
Here it is almost 3:30. I’ve made a cake and cleaned the kitchen and I’m still feeling good so I’m hoping this fever and feeling bad is gone for good.
I think I’ll be hesitant to get another flu shot after as bad as I’ve felt now for four days after that one. I say that now but next year I’ll weigh the benefit and the risk and probably do it again. I’ve never felt this bad before from the shot so . . who knows. Maybe it isn’t even the shot causing this.

There are lots of RSV going around my 35 year old daughter has it right now. Could just be unlucky timing.

I got my flu shot the same day you did and I had no symptoms, not even a sore arm. It hurt going in, but no fever, headache, nothing. Maybe you picked something else up. I hate to say it, but did you COVID test?

I talked to the pharmacist yesterday afternoon and she said it wasn’t unusual for those taking the the high dose “senior vaccine” to run a fever for a few days longer than those who took the regular vaccine. She said they typically see any affects lasting 1 – 3 days with the regular vaccine but could last a day or two longer with the high dose vaccine.
Did not covid test. I feel certain it’s a reaction to the vaccine. As you know, some people will have a reaction and some will not to the exact same shot.

“. It’s normal to feel peaky—fatigued, achey, or warm with a low-grade fever—after getting a flu shot. “This is the robust immune response as the body’s creating antibodies, actual protection against the flu,” says Juanita Mora, an immunologist practicing in Chicago and volunteer medical spokesperson with the American Lung Association. It happens to about 10% of people who get the shot, she says….In other words, feeling like you’re in the early stages of getting the flu is actually a sign that you’ll be protected from the actual virus. What you’re feeling is the body’s defense system gearing up.”

Yes, I think you’re right. I should have thought more and not taken the “senior dose”. My body over reacts to all medication. What I’ve read is that it contains four times the antigens, which probably meant four times the reaction in my case.
I’ve felt great today so instead of the 1-3 days of possibly feeling bad from the regular flu shot, with the senior dose – I felt bad off and on for four days. That wasn’t so bad. I talked to the pharmacist yesterday and she wasn’t concerned all since I had been given the high dose and was only running fever a couple of hours a day and not feeling bad otherwise. But, I’m hopeful it’s all over now.
Thanks for the info!
