Noisemakers Have Gone For The Day

The guys working here today were noisy. There were three of them and it was like a symphony of hammering, sawing, drilling out there. The deck goes off the back of the house so it’s just outside the family room windows. The sewing room is downstairs so the deck is just outside the door there. I tried to keep headphones on listening to a book but when the headphones were off, with that noise and two dehumidifiers going . . ugh! I was glad when the guys left for the day.

They got all the screws out of the old boards today. We can’t walk out there now. Tomorrow they’ll start replacing all the deck boards. They still have to build the short stairs, add new hand rails, stain it all. Since they started this today, I’m guessing they’re going to do the deck before they start the pergola.

Probably a few more noisy days around here. But . . that’s progress! This deck has bothered Vince since the beginning. At first he was going to change out the really bad boards but when he started looking closely at them, most of them were really bad so he said . . just replace the whole thing. Hopefully we won’t ever have to do that again.
