I’m never able to think of anything for Vince for Christmas. I think I’m easy to buy for . . there are so many things I like, but Vince .. all the things he would like are things that he needs to buy. One year when he was doing a lot of 3D printing, I thought about ordering a variety of filaments but didn’t have a clue what kind to get and then as I was trying to be discreet about getting info, he said “If I want it, I’ll buy it myself. Don’t buy it for me.” Probably 13 years ago, when he built the shop in Nevada, MO, I got him a gift certificate for Grizzly so he could buy whatever he wanted. That is still in the drawer of his dresser . . never used.
Vince is all fired up (no pun intended) about the new deck and the new outside hanging out area. This popped up on something I saw the other day.
I printed all the details and have been conspiring with the builder about what we can do with this. Should I put it on the concrete, should he build me some kind of pad with fireproof material to put on the concrete, should we build another pit to put it in? He thinks the best thing to do is build an area just off the concrete, put gravel in it and put this little pit in there. We can put chairs at that end of the concrete and sit by the pit or even pull our chairs into the yard.
The concrete guy didn’t think putting it on the concrete was a good idea because that whole area will have a roof over it.
The guy was telling me he could build an area with rocks about 15″ high, put gravel in there and then put fire brick for this to sit on but . . the gift is for Christmas so if he builds something, I’m going to have to tell Vince why he’s building it so I think I’ll wait and Vince can figure out exactly where he wants to put it and how he wants to set it up after he sees it.
I feel like this is one of the best gifts I’ve thought of for Vince. Now . . to figure out how I’m going to get it from the delivery guy and get it wrapped without Vince figuring out what it is. He’s not nosey at all so if I say “Do NOT go outside when the UPS or Fed Ex guys come!”, he won’t do it. Hey . . that works! He won’t see anything I’ve ordered. Maybe I won’t even tell him when his gift arrives and he’ll never go out to get the packages again. My life just got easier! 🙂
