Here’s another funny story about losing things.
Remember the Soles cork flip flops I found in my closet that had never been worn and, after wearing them, I loved them? I lost them. Honestly, how can you lose a pair of shoes? You leave the house wearing them . . chances are you return to the house wearing them . . but not always! 🙂
It was September 16, when I wrote about them on the blog. Probably about September 20, I lost them. I searched everywhere. In the closet. In the bathroom. Under the bed. In the downstairs bedroom. In the sewing room. I searched in places I knew those shoes couldn’t possibly be but I never found them.
Last Saturday when I got in the Highlander to go get Addie . . there were my shoes.
I remembered that Vince and I were going somewhere. It must have been when we were going to Lowe’s in Carthage to get the tile because we thought we might have to go to Neosho so we took the Highlander. I was wearing the flip flops but didn’t want to wear those out in public. Vince was in a big hurry so I grabbed my tennis shoes and socks to change in the car, which I did. Therefore, I had on tennis shoes but also had the flip flops in the car and forgot to get them out and didn’t remember that I had left them in there.
Speaking of lost shoes . . when Addie was here last weekend, she brought some big, fuzzy unicorn slippers. When I got ready to take her home, she didn’t have those slippers. I said “Where are your slippers?” She had slept in the basement, had worn them down there and didn’t want to go down and get them so she said “I’ll leave them here.” I think she thought I’d run down and get them for her but I didn’t care if she left them here. If she didn’t want them enough to get them . . fine.
I was talking to her later in the week and I said “Addie, I didn’t see your shoes in the bedroom.”
I had not yet made the bed down there because I was going to take the sheets off and wash them. She said “Oh, my shoes are in the bed because my feet got cold, I put the slippers on and then they fell off in the bed!”
I’m glad she told me because if I had gone to take the sheets off and wasn’t expecting to find unicorn slippers in the bed, that would probably have scared me.

Hahaha!! Yes, that would have been a shock to have big unicorn slippers flying out from between the sheets when you stripped the bed!! 🙂 And you weren’t kidding about losing things! We keep our car keys in the cars. You obviously can’t do that in town, but when you live in the woods and people think your driveway leads to a house with a guy who is nuts and owns guns, people don’t bother us! (The guy with the guns actually lived further down our road, but he died years ago… I don’t mind that people avoid our driveway!) LOL

Yes, you are protected by the crazy guy’s reputation!

I cannot relate as it is extremely rare I lose anything. Couldn’t tell you how many years it has been.
I won’t laugh at you but I’m grateful I don’t.

In my house, my kids used to say “If mom can’t find it, it’s really lost”. I still have the ability, but sometimes it takes a bit longer now. 😉

… I have a nice cabinet by my front door and that is where I stash the keys, wallet, and anything else. Each drawer has a purpose, so it is my central location to find anything – hats, gloves, masks, batteries, mailing stuff. Last year I got rid of older purses and the ones I use are also stashed there.
Growing up, we had a big “key” with hooks underneath and that is where mom always put her keys – one “key” was by the garage door, so that’s where the car keys were and another “key” was in the kitchen so other keys were stashed there.
During the winter, I usually start with socks on my feet and then they somehow get removed during the night. I find lots of socks on the floor and in the bed.

I think that was very smart of Addie to put her warm fuzzy shoes on when her feet got cold. Makes me think I will put a pair of my fuzzy socks by the bedside table for my cold feet.
When I get back from shopping or whatever I put my keys in my purse as soon as I open the back door. I go directly to my bedroom and put my purse on closet doorknob. I have always had a fear of an emergency especially a house fire and I want to be able to grab my purse with keys inside and get going.

Oh and James has misplace, lost, thrown away and very good pair of new Brooks tennis shoes. HOW you ask? He is always in a hurry and trashed a bunch of shoe boxes I was going to take to the
State Hospital as they use them for Christmas gift boxes for patients. Ya wanna bet those shoes were in the box when he cleaned out his closet? And no the weight would not have dawned on him because he is in a hurry.

That’s terrible!! Vince goes through every box I throw out . . just in case I left something in it. In fact, I clean out the fridge and he’s digging through the trash making sure I didn’t throw out anything that might be edible.

Now that is way funny!!
