When the concrete guy finished with this piece, he told Vince . . watch, she’s going to want to put the smoker here now.
Really, it would be almost the perfect spot. The sunroom is the room you see right there so I’d go from the kitchen through the sunroom, down the four steps to the smoker but there’s no place to put it when we’re not using it and we don’t leave it out in the weather.
You can almost see it in this picture ut there’s about a 5′ x 14′ poured pad at this end of the shop before it starts down the little “driveway”.
When I looked at that little porch, I said to Vince .. That’s a good place for the smoker. I could just roll it into the garage when I’m done! That garage is 14 x 18 and it’s for storage and divided off with a wall from the shop. He said NO! I didn’t argue because (1) Really, that’s HIS space and I’m not infringing and (2) It isn’t nearly as close to the house or convenient as the spot I had already chosen for the smoker. So when the guy said “She’s going to want to put the smoker here.” Vince said “No. She’s already said she wants to put it on the pad in front of the shop garage. She always takes over all my space!” They both thought that was so funny.
This is where I’ll use the smoker. That’s the driveway the new concrete is connected to. The brick you see is the corner of the garage. There’s a two car garage and then a one car garage to the right of the two car garage. We’re using the one car garage for storage and the smoker is just inside the door on a rolling cart so I roll it out, use it, let it cool down, then roll it back in. Perfect!
The concrete guys said they needed the rain to hold off til at least 3 p.m. and the concrete would be set up fine. The forecast said rain at 5 but it’s exactly 3 p.m. now and the wind is blowing and it’s getting dark out there.
They covered the last two areas that were poured today.
The concrete guy is also the guy rebuilding the deck and building the pergola. Said he’d be back tomorrow. Not sure if he’s going to start on the deck or the pergola next.

Well, now, that’s what I thought it was about – a post sticking out of the ground made of concrete. Now I realize I never saw one.
