It is so noisy. I’m glad I’m not our neighbors. It’s one thing when you have to put up with it for your own project but quite another when it’s the neighbor doing it.
They got that all dug out and are forming it up for the concrete.
They’re re-doing both sets of deck stairs to bring them up to code. The larger set of stairs gets all new tread boards and new hand railing. The smaller set of stairs is coming completely out. The guys are pouring concrete there and will make stairs that go one way, then turn a corner to go to the deck so we don’t have a 25″ step down at the bottom of the short stairs.
They’re going to dig up that crepe myrtle and we’ll find a place for it.
They’re replacing deck boards that are beyond saving. Hopefully that will keep the deck usable for a while longer til the cost of building materials comes down and we can re-do it with manufactured materials.
They’re also going to pour a concrete pad on the side of the house for the smoker. Our driveway isn’t level. You drive up to get into the garage and I have to push the smoker halfway down the driveway to get to a level spot so I’ll be able to push it just off the driveway onto a level pad. That will be nice.
I tried to throw a chicken coop into the mix. Use the old deck boards . . save money! That usually works for Vince but today, it didn’t. He’s still saying NO CHICKENS! Ever!! I’ll keep trying. 🙂

Does your town allow chickens? We live in a dinky little town of about 350 or so and they don’t allow anything. Barely allow dogs & cats.

I don’t live in town. We’re out in the county and I’m not sure there are any rules out here. Very agricultural. I pass by lots of cows, ducks, chickens, horses, etc. between here and town.

Have him keep the boards and you never know…maybe you’ll be able to convince him at a later date. Our town allows I think, 6 chickens (no roosters) for our small third of an acre plot. We live in residential neighborhood and thought about doing that but I didn’t want to be the only one taking care of them. Maybe next year when my husband retires I’ll reconsider but only after we’ve done some traveling. 🙂
