The Light Box

To do punch needle, you need to trace off a design onto fabric. A light box isn’t necessary but it’s helpful. I have a light box. It’s small and I don’t think it would be great for tracing anything but the smallest of punch needle designs, I can’t even find it. I did find it after we got here and Vince said “Oh, a light box. I’m always needing one of those!” Really? I’m still trying to think of why he’s “always” needing a light box but I didn’t think I’d be needing it so I said . . here, you can have it. Now he says he doesn’t remember that conversation and has no idea where it was. I figured it would be in his “office” but I opened the door, looked in there and thought . . finding a light box is not worth breaking my neck.

I thought . . I’ll tape the piece design on the sunroom window and trace it like that. I went into the sunroom and taped the piece on the window but then I’d have to tape the fabric to the window and I thought . . why? Just order a light box.

I think it was Vonna who mentioned that she uses Lori Holt’s light box. I knew Fat Quarter Shop would have it but I usually get things much faster from Amazon so I looked there and yes, they had it for about the same price. I put it in my cart, took it out, put it back . . this went on for about a week and then finally I said . . I won’t buy anything else for the next month . . so I ordered it. It isn’t going to be here til next week . . it isn’t Prime so who knows .. I might have gotten it faster from Fat Quarter Shop but it’s a whole lot easier for Amazon purchases to slide in under the radar than it is for Fat Quarter Shop purchases. Those things must be highlighted on the credit card bill.

So, I’ve ordered myself a light box and I’m going to be ready – when it arrives, I’ll start doing punch needle.
