Yesterday was pretty much hijacked by the appliance installation and then the leak and then we went to Lowe’s and got more things Vince needed to begin the grouting. We planned our trip to eat lunch at the Red Onion in Joplin around 2 when it wouldn’t be crowded and use our gift certificate. The food was amazing. We had an appetizer (bruschetta), then French Onion Soup. Vince’s entre was Bourbon Pork Chops with potatoes. Mine was . . dang it . . I forgot the name of it . . some kind of chicken with mushrooms, artichoke hearts and a sauce over wild rice. We were going to split a dessert but we couldn’t decide between White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake and Limoncello Cheesecake with Marscapone Cream. We decided on the Limoncello Cheesecake but our very nice server brought us a piece of White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake that she said was an “ugly” piece that they wouldn’t serve so it was on the house. Delicious and a much needed break from what was going on at the house.
It was probably after 4 when we got home. I didn’t do anything in the kitchen. There’s a big fan and a dehumidifier in the middle of the floor so it wasn’t where I wanted to be. I worked out in the yard for a little while. River Birch limbs are starting to fall so I carried a stack of those over to the burn pile, pulled a few weeds, watered the rhubarb because it’s all in pots and was in the garage last night when it rained.
I did get some stitching done.
Additions:
Last night I figured out that Colorado Cross Stitcher had opened and I ordered a few skeins of floss and one piece of Potato Lugana, 25 count.
Cooking:
Not a thing!
Videos I Watched:
I watched four Mastern Gardener videos. Our topic this week is soil. I watched a couple of videos friends had shared – not stitching related. I read the online manuals for the stove and dishwasher.
Stitching:
I’ll do a separate post on stitching.
Plans for Today:
I am going to cook today. I had chicken thighs out that I was going to cook on Monday. I’ll cook those today. Vince swears we’re starting keto so I guess I’ll leave off the potatoes. I don’t even think we’re supposed to have carrots on keto but since this is the first day, if we don’t follow it exactly, we’ll be ok. I also have spaghetti and meatballs on the menu this week. Vince said he’ll get off the diet for that so I’ll probably fix it tomorrow – get it over with before we really get into the diet. I’m not really feeling much conviction about this diet but we do need to lose weight. Starting a diet this close to Thanksgiving and Christmas seems kinda like it’s doomed to fail but I guess if we lose a few pounds, that’s better than no pounds and we can always start over on January 1, which seems like forever from now but it really isn’t.
I will get some stitching done . . I hope.
If the fans and dehumidifier come out of the kitchen, which I doubt they will, I need to get in there and get that place put back together.
I really want to do punch needle but I’m so scared to start. I just need to do it! Maybe today I’ll at least trace off a chart. We’ll see. I should start with something small because it probably won’t be very good so I’ll see what I can find.

Do you think it’s just hard to get started? I’m pretty sure I’ll love it once I do it but I seem to be scared to try.

Vonna has some punch needle tutorials on you tube! That might get you going!

Thanks. I’ve watched those. I ordered everything she uses, including the Bee Garden pattern. That’s probably the first thing I’ll stitch.
