In our effort to cover up every square inch of our one acre lot, Vince wants to build something . . I’m not even sure what you call it. I guess it’s a pergola type structure. He explained to the guy what he’s wanting and this is one the builder found and this is their starting point.
I’m not sure I see the point – especially since we have a deck off the main level and a patio under the deck. I asked him what we’d use it for and he said “sitting out or grilling”. So, he’s going to take the food, go downstairs, walk out the door, grill. Bring it back in, bring it upstairs? The grill currently is on the back deck and he walks from the kitchen through the sunroom onto the deck and grills. I don’t see that happening. We could sit on the deck or on the patio if we had furniture.
This is one idea I’m not sure of the value or utility but if he wants it . . that’s fine with me. If we had a pool, I could see having this by the pool. We don’t have a pool, nor do we have a place for a pool.
I think he said it’s going to be 16 x 16 because that’s as big of an area where they can pour concrete. I kinda hope he re-thinks this plan but watch . . he’ll do it and it will be the place we spend most of our time. That’s why he makes the decisions . . mine are rarely right!

I think the best place for this project would be by Vince’s shop as an extension or porch. He could then sit in or outside the shop as well as have the old guys come over to shoot the breeze. Second location would be by the burn pit you have – make the pit a fancier pit so you could have evening fires and rinks.
Could Vince be trying to decrease the mowing area that he has to deal with, even though the edging has to be worse task. Or, he could be trying to stop any expansion of veggie gardens, chicken coops, etc.

Judy if that is the one from Sams I have it–had it put in last October. We LOVE it. I put cafe lights all around the bottom of it. Looks really nice. I always wanted some kind of covered patio, so this is what we opted for. Glad we made the decision–oh it weathered that hurricane that came through here last week, without any problem. If you would like real person pictures let me know I can share them.

I think you will love it! He will see that you need patio furniture and then you can have friends over to eat outside with you in the spring and summer. I like this idea!

I see a spa/hot tub under it! It would be perfect.

No! Too many neighbors can see what goes on. Vince did buy a blowup hot tub when we were in Texas. Every time he mentions that, I say NO! We are NOT putting up a blowup hot tub!
