They both were delivered early. This morning the delivery guy called to see if he could bring them today and, yes, of course.
I love them but my joy has been tempered by the dishwasher installer’s failing to either tighten a connection or something because they left and Vince wanted to run to Lowe’s and get more of the pencil trim that he decided would work. We both changed clothes, got ready to leave and it hadn’t been 20 minutes since the installers left, when we walked into the kitchen to water! The dishwasher was leaking. The wood floors in the kitchen had already started to buckle and a couple of the boards have not splintered from being swollen. Water was coming through into the basement. The subflooring is wet, the insulation is wet.
Vince turned off the water to the dishwasher, called the appliance store, they sent a guy out to fix the installation issue, told us to call them when the wood floors dried. No offer of fans or a dehumidifier. Am I happy with them? NO! A neighbor brought over a little box fan and a dehumidifier. Vince had one fan here. We have one fan going in basement and one fan and a humidifier going in the kitchen.
What a mess and a mess that should not have happened! It would be one thing if a part on the dishwasher was defective but simply failing to tighten a connection and then turn the water on and check everything . . not acceptable but that seems to be how too many things happen these days. I think it’s pretty crappy that no one from management called and has not returned a call we left for them.
We were going to go by there today while we were out and order a new vent hood and wall oven but needless to say, we didn’t. Just saying “we’re sorry” would go a long way right now.
But . . I do love the new stove . . the look of it anyway. I haven’t used it. We used out gift certificate to a local restaurant for lunch. Tomorrow or Thursday is the last day it was good so I don’t think we’ll be using the stove today.
I can actually put three pots across the width. This photo shows two large Dutch ovens and a good sized medium cast iron skillet.
If I were to use a smaller pot in the middle or not such a large pot on the right, it would be just right.
The dishwasher is installed too. I had dishes in the old dishwasher that I had rinsed and planned to run the wash cycle today before the new dishwasher comes tomorrow. I took them all out and had washed and dried some of them before the guys arrived and I removed myself from the kitchen so I loaded those into the new dishwasher but haven’t used it yet. All the insulation under it was wet so that’s out drying. Vince will put it all back together once the insulation is dry.
Despite the frustration, I’m happy to have the stove and dishwasher.

We have friends who had the same thing happen. But in their case it was the hot water that ran out and out and out and ruined their new last year plank floors in the kitchen, bath, dining room and laundry room. Apparently a valve under the sink was “disturbed” and they couldn’t get to it to shut it off because HOT WATER was geysering. I’m so sorry for what should be a fun day turning into a literal mess! I hope it’s all fixable for you in short order.

It was hot water here too but Vince was able to shut it off.

I think I’d check the gas connection, since you know they have poor workmanship. It looks very nice!

Vince said we’d smell the gas if it was leaking. One guy did the stove, another guy did the dishwasher so hopefully the stove guy did things correctly. I hope!!

How terrible! Hope everything dries out okay. We think that at some point in our house’s history they must have had a leak in the dishwasher area as there looked to be a repair in the basement ceiling. My husband opened up the area to make sure everything was okay. After your experience I’m glad my husband will do the install when we get the dishwasher

How I wish Vince had done it here! This would not have happened.

Oh, I have serious stove envy! I’ve gotten used to cooking on my electric stove since we upgraded it after we moved in (can you believe it’s been two years?!) but I do miss my gas stove! Enjoy yours!

No. I can’t believe it’s been two years since you moved! That time has passed so quickly. I think I’m going to love my stove and am so happy we got it.

What brand is your stove? My middle son and DIL moved into a house with an electric stove. There is a gas connection for a gas stove. My DIL has a side business baking cookies and specialty cakes. She hates the electric oven and wants to get a gas stove since there is gas already there. That stove gives me stove envy and I don’t even like gas stoves….LOL!
