When I ordered my last grocery order from Walmart, they were out of the giant roll of freeze paper (which Vince and I both use for different things besides the typical use!) and they were out of the mouthwash I like. I have the Walmart+ account so I can get free shipping on anything I order from WM online . . so long it’s sold by WM. I shouldn’t say “anything” . . there may be things that don’t qualify but so far, everything I’ve ordered has had free 3 day shipping. It used to be 2 day but that’s ok.
Last night before going to bed, I remembered the mouthwash and freezer paper and I ordered it online. I think it was supposed to be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
This morning, I hadn’t been online in a while (which is significant because WM had sent me an email saying it was all being delivered from the store but I hadn’t seen the email) and Vince said “Are we expecting company? There are two cars in the driveway.” I said “I don’t think so!” I went outside and it was Walmart delivery people. One had the one roll of freezer paper and the other had the bottles of mouthwash.
They drove up at the exact same time. The girl handed me the bag of mouthwash. I said “Are y’all together?” She said no . . and left. The guy got out and handed me the freezer paper and left.
First, it wasn’t in the store two days ago. Then it was supposed to come by mail and they brought it . . in two cars. I’m not complaining. It was amazing service – just weird that two people brought it. They probably followed each other all the way out here from the store.
Crazy! I told my friend last night . . How many times a day can I use the word “crazy”? Lately . . all day every day.

Interesting that you are having trouble with supplies. I live in Wa state in a rural area and haven’t had a problem. We do have better control of Covid so no businesses in my area are closed or slow. Not sure if that is the problem or not. We are even remodeling our house and the contractor has been getting all his supplies. Hoping that continues!

I hope it continues for you and I hope it spreads over to our area. It’s just crazy here – trying to find parts for anything, along with some groceries and household supplies. It makes me feel good knowing some areas are not affected so much. It could be because I’m in an area with . . not a large population but definitely not rural and Joplin draws from a good many miles away because of the smaller towns. Maybe the stores in the smaller towns are better stocked than the stores in town. Who knows.

Definitely weird! I wonder if they came from two different Walmarts. If they didn’t, well, they are definitely keeping people employed!

Normally, only the Walmart closest to me will deliver but there are 7 Walmarts within a half hour or so from me. I didn’t ask where they came from. If it happens again, I will . . just out of curiosity.

We can only buy freezer paper, here in Australia, by the metre. Its not available to buy in the supermarket. 2 metres for $6.95 plus $3 post. We just use it for patchwork etc.

Wow, That’s really pricey for plastic coated paper.
Heather Watts says
If you can’t buy it at the supermarket, you would have to import it, so freight costs as well as import taxes would be added on. Luckily my Hubby bought me a couple of packets many long years ago when he was in the U.S. on business. There was a patchwork shop close by me in Sydney that sold it by the packet, something like $18.50, but they have now closed down

Every time I use my freezer paper, I’ll think if you and I’ll be a bit more frugal with it. Thanks for that lesson.

We don’t realize how lucky we are here in the U.S., even with so many recent changes.

We’ve been noticing shortages in a few areas lately. Am really hoping that ISN’T the case when I order new windows & doors for our ‘new’ home, and also when I go look for a new sofa. We know someone who ordered 2 recliners and are having to wait 35 MONTHS to get those — I don’t know which I was more amazed at. The wait time or the fact that they are willing to wait that long, period! Take care!
judy.blog@gmail.com says
That’s a wait! We waited about 6 months for recliners a year ago and I thought that was bad. I don’t think I would have waited that long. The lesson learned I suppose is don’t wait til your old furniture is completely and totally worn out because three more years and we might be sitting on the floor.

There are often empty shelves in all the stores around here. I don’t know what the problem is or what the answer is. I have not tried to order any appliances but I got a chair from Southwest Appliance a few months ago, but it was in stock and he had plenty. Also had a lot of appliances and other furniture. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for,

Over a year ago I was calling them looking for a new freezer and he laughed. From what I’ve seen around here and yes, it may be different there but if you’re willing to take what’s on the floor, that’s great. If you want something that you would normally order and have in a month or so . . be prepared for a very long wait. We ordered recliners last year in September and I think it took 7 months to get them . . plain Jane Lazy Boy recliners! The stove and dishwasher took a bit over 6 months, the fridge supposedly will take about 9 months. For us, all of these waits were ok because we had older things we were using but I’d have to have had my stove go out completely and have to wait six months to get it.
