The gas line is in! The stove will be here next week and this little change from electric to gas stove will be history but . . I’m not counting it as done til I’m cooking with gas!
The plumber was here til around 2. When he left, I asked Vince if he wanted to go pick up burgers at Babe’s. He said “No, but I’ll eat them there!” I didn’t want to go in but we agreed that if it was crowded inside, we’d get them and eat them in the car. If it wasn’t crowded, we’d go in. We got there about 2:40 p.m. and we were the only ones in the dining room so we went ate inside.
Best burgers and onion rings. There’s a new burger place closer to the house but it’s still in the honeymoon stage and crowded so we didn’t want to be around other people. Babe’s is hard to beat though.
Other than water the garden and cut okra, the rest of my day was spent stitching.

Cooking:
Nothing! I thought the plumber was going to be here before 8 and didn’t want the stovetop to be hot when they had to move it but he wasn’t here til nearly 9. Then it was close to 2 when he left. I asked about 1 if I could use the stove and either the plumber of Vince said “We’ll tell you when you can.” No one ever told me so when the plumber left about 2, Vince said “What’s for dinner?” and I said “How about burgers from Babe’s?” so that’s how that happened.

Stitching:
I was so hoping to finish the plaid skirt but I have one more row to do – piece of cake. I can get that done this morning, then do her legs/shoes, then finish the outline of the border. I’m going to keep working on her this weekend and hopefully have her finished by Monday and get back on A Changed World.
Plans for Today:
The freeze dryer finished a load last night so I let it defrost overnight. I have two trays of tomatoes and one tray of okra in the freezer so those will go into the freeze dryer. I think I’m going to cut enough bay leaves to fill a tray and freeze dry those on the fourth tray.
I need to vacuum the upstairs, mop the rest of the house. That will all take a good chunk of the morning. Then I hope to spend the rest of the day cooking and stitching.

I wish we had a Babe’s here in NC. Those onion rings look so good! All the restaurants here make big thick slices and the whole piece of onion comes out with the first bite. I really love those thin, crispy onion straw type of onion rings!

Yes, I don’t like those big ones either. Usually the big hunk of onion comes out in one bit and the boiling hot onion isn’t fun to eat.

It’s so neat to read about your life. Especially with knowing all the places you go to and talk about. We will have to try Babe’s next time we are in Joplin. We tend to go south more. There is a grocery store in Bella Vista that I like to shop at. With Covid we mostly stay home. Thankful to have our own meat and veggies! Time to go hide out in my sewing room! Have a good weekend!

Babe’s is north on 43/Main – not too far before you geet to 171. We think they have good burgers. I will tell you that the first time we went there, we walked in, I looked around and said NO . . and we left. Then everyone we know eats there and raves about the burgers so we went back, haven’t died yet and the food really is good. We do try to go around 2:30 when there’s usually no one there or once it gets cooler, we’ll sit in the car and eat.
