We all have our own style of crazy, right? Jeremy called this morning to see if Vince wanted to go to the high school football game tonight. It’s the big Webb City/Carthage rivalry. I said . . let me go ask Vince. I walked outside with the phone, asked Vince if he wanted to go to the game with Jeremy and he said sure! I came back inside and was talking to Jeremy about other things and then he said “I’ll pick him up a little after 1 because we need to be in line by 2 for 5:00 when they start selling tickets.” I said “Wait a minute . . I’m going to let you talk to Vince about that.” The game starts at 7:30. You have to get there 5-1/2 hours BEFORE a high school football game? No . . Vince said NO . . he was not going. He said “That’s a big time commitment for a high school football game.”
I was kinda looking forward to two or three hours alone but not 24 hours! 🙂
The even funnier thing is . . once they open the gates and you can go through, everyone has to RUN to get a seat. I told Vince . . I’ll pay for everyone’s admission if I can video Vince running to get a seat.
We thought the game was in Webb City so Vince contemplated letting Jeremy stand in line, get the tickets and the seats and then Vince would go later. He said I could drop him off at the gate and Jeremy could bring him home but Vince was just talking to a neighbor and the game is in Carthage. Not that Carthage is far, but it is farther away than the Webb City stadium. And, yes, the neighbors are going to the game but their son plays football for Webb City. The neighbor said they sometimes televise the game . . really? High school football? This is all funny to us but very real and serious to those who live here, especially those who have kids who play football or attend the schools.

We don’t go to our very popular local university games more than 3h prior and that only if we hit a tailgate. This is insane for HS! We are fans but not fanatics. As in, we turned in our season tickets for a refund because games aren’t worth covid (even though we vacc’d).
I’m on team Vince 🙂

There is a channel on the local TV cable that plays Brownwood High School 24/7!! Way too much time for me!! I would be the one to want to stay home!

Vince found an audio broadcast of the game and we’re listening to it now but it’s just a local radio station so it isn’t 24/7.
BTW, our team is losing and the game is almost over.
