Last night Vince and I were both so tired. We were in bed before 10 which NEVER happens. Neither of us were extremely busy but I think it was the game . . which I’ll talk about later.
Vince wanted French Toast for breakfast which was great because we were at the end of a loaf of bread and I needed to make more so while he ran to the storage buildings to get more stuff, I stirred up a new batch of bread. I made the French toast and baked the new bread.
After breakfast, I picked up in the kitchen and went downstairs and unpacked about half a dozen boxes. There really is no end to the boxes. I’m at the point now where unpacking means dumping stuff in the sewing room or in the storage area. That’s the quickest way to get boxes out of the way and then one day I’ll spend a whole day putting fabric away in the sewing room or straightening up the storage room.
Not long after I was done with the boxes, I sat down to cross stitch and the mail arrived before I took the first stitch, and that meant my latest new lamp was here. My lamp buying frenzy is giving Vince some good stories to tell. He’s sure I’ve bought at least 10 lamps but there haven’t been that many. I’ll do a post about that later. I spent a while working with that. Then it was time to go to Addie’s game. It was 95 degrees out there and the sun was blazing hot. Not a cloud in the sky. We got there just before the game started and stayed til there were only 4 minutes remaining. We have a couple of days coming up where the high will be 90 or 92 but I think that was our last 95 or higher degree day.
Additions:
This will be covered in another post but I ordered another Lowery stand because I need one upstairs and downstairs. Really! I ordered a couple of extra long bars because I’ve been trying to find them and they had them.
Addie and I have been talking about doing punch needle. She tried it with a Hobby Lobby kit and the fabric wasn’t the best. I didn’t know what I was doing so I couldn’t help her but after watching Vonna’s videos, I’m ready to try a couple of patterns out of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine. I had already ordered floss for one but one uses several Valdani threads so I ordered those.
Denise . . you know the enabler . . sent me a link to a shop on Etsy that has the cutest fabric I can use on the back of smalls so I ordered a bit of that. Blog post will follow when they arrive though Denise will probably get hers before I do and she’ll post about it.
Cooking:
I made bread but the crazy thing is . . I still haven’t unpacked all my bread pans so I’m using one small pan and one larger pan. Chad and Addie came over to eat after the game and we had brisket sandwiches. We used just about every crumb of the smaller loaf and I gave Chad the larger loaf to take home. So, I’ll be making bread again today. See why I buy flour in 50 pound bags?
Videos I Watched:
No videos.
Stitching:
No stitching.
Plans for Today:
I am going to cook today. We’ve used up all our leftovers. I have the menu plan for next week done and what we’re having on Tuesday makes more than one meal so I’m cooking that today and then we’ll have the leftovers on Tuesday. It’s oven BBQ chicken and I’ll make red beans, and potato salad to go with it. There will be leftovers of both of those for Tuesday too.
Stitching . . maybe . . I hope! 🙂

How is Vince’s shop coming along and will you post some photos of the progress in the shop?
If you have extra lamps and magnifiers, are they something that Vince can use in his shop?

I don’t think these are the kinds of lights he’d want out there due to the dust he’ll be generating. The shop is done. He was waiting for the finish for the wood floors and, of course, it was out of stock and on back order but arrived yesterday. He’ll probably wait til it’s a bit cooler before he finishes the floors and then he’ll be ready to move everything in there and be ready to start playing out there.

Your venture into punch needle triggered a memory for me. About six or seven years ago, I went to a quilt show and signed up for some classes. On the last day of the show was there an intro to punch needle class. Something came up and I had to leave early, but I went to talk to the teacher and got the kit before I left. Yesterday I dug up the kit and it is really cute, it has everything you need to finish a small 4″ x 4″ piece. I may start it soon, but just in case I ordered one of the new Teresa Kogut patterns (Halloween tuxedo) and a bit of weavers cloth.

I took a look at our long range forecast and the warmest two days should be the end of next week with Saturday being 91….all subject to change of course. After that it might not even make it to 80 anymore. I’m ready for fall weather. Especially ready to get rid of the humidity.

It’s funny that you’re still dealing with boxes…we moved out of our house in NY in July and today unpacked our last boxes! We’ve moved so many times we’ve learned that we lose steam if we don’t get through them fast.

We’ve never unpacked all our boxes. There are things we just do not need and still don’t get rid of. This move, so much of our stuff went into storage (three rental units packed full). Vince brings a couple of pickup loads over two or three times a week. Some goes into the storage side of the shop. Vince hasn’t had the floors finished in his shop yet so a lot goes in there. There are things like the big huge canner that I can’t use til I get the gas stove and it’s one of those things I’ll probably never get rid of but won’t use it a whole lot without a big garden. There are things like 10 rolls of quilt batting. Even if I will use it, I’ll only use one roll at a time so I don’t need 10 rolls here in the house.
It doesn’t bother us that we have boxes – so long as they aren’t inside the house.
