First, sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves. I hope y’all will tell me you do the same things.
Last night Vince went to bed at maybe midnight. It was almost 1 when I finished up in the sewing room, which probably should be called the stitching room but is usually called the cat room. I went upstairs to take a shower and apparently when I went out the sewing room door, Vince heard me and woke up. He thought I was coming to bed so he was waiting for me and when I didn’t come to bed, he got worried and got up looking for me .. after 1 a.m. I’m a bit past the age to sneak out at night so I don’t know what he thought I was doing. Anyway, he went upstairs and saw the bedroom light on and realized I was taking a shower so he went back to bed and waited for me but . . before I took a shower, I put some clothes in the dryer. Don’t we all switch the laundry to the dryer at 1 a.m.? There was one shirt in there that I only wanted to dry for about 20 minutes so I waited upstairs for that. I dried my hair and since I had just had it cut, I decided to use the curling iron and see what it looked like. Who doesn’t fix their hair at 1:30 in the morning?
I finally went to bed at almost 2 and I was quietly going to bed and realized Vince was watching a video on his tablet. I said “Oh, you’re awake!” and then I heard the story about how he had gone upstairs to look for me and then came back to bed and waited for me and couldn’t figure out what was taking so long. I explained . . the shirt in the dryer, the hair. Then . . everything was funny and we kept laughing. About 3 a.m., I said “Vince, we are NOT going to sleep. Let’s just get up and do something constructive!” We didn’t and we finally fell asleep but we didn’t sleep long before it was time to get up.
All that to say . . we both took naps this afternoon.
Poor Vince . . he went to town three times today. I don’t even know all the reasons why he had to go but it didn’t involve me so I was happy to get to stay home.
When the first load of stuff got moved here in October, everything that went into the storage room just got stuck in there with not much organization so today I spent almost the entire day getting one side of that room organized. We keep all our canned goods in there and that includes storebought cans, storebought jars of food, home canned food – whether canned or freeze dried. It may not sound like a huge project but it was.

The pasta sauce, pizza sauce and pasta are above the freeze dryer.

Then I put all the newer cans on the canned food rack.
I have a shelf unit at the bottom of the stairs (I’ll remember to take a picture some day) . . not a big one but one kind like a metal pie safe (it was in the breakfast room in Texas). Each week when I make my menu, I bring all the canned food (or anything I need from downstairs) and put it on that shelf. I have a notebook there and I will write down what we use that week (say . . green beans x 2, tomato sauce x 3, canned peaches, cranberry sauce, etc.) and that goes on my grocery list to be replaced. There are other things on that storage unit but one shelf is totally for food I’ll use this week. That way, I keep track of what I need to buy and I don’t have something on the menu plan that isn’t really here.
Anyway . . that’s what I spent most of today doing. No stitching at all!
