This isn’t my progress report for today’s stitching because I still have a few hours of stitching but I did work one strand of the 3846 to be sure it was going to work and it was exactly what I was wanting. As someone commented, it’s much softer than the black and I like it for the words under the text box and I think using it in the background of the text box will make it look like a blackboard.
When I take the photo later tonight, I’ll move the fabric farther from the light and hope to get more acurate colors.
I still think I can get the left flower done and finish the bottom border done.

I used DMC 3371 (very dark brown) for the background on the text box. I hadn’t thought of using gray, the idea of a chalk board look is appealing.

Looking at it, the 3846 isn’t strong so I’m glad I used the black or 3371 is a great choice . . for the other parts but I just didn’t want that text box or the words below it to be so glaringly dark.
