We ordered the stove back in March. They told us it would take about four months for it to get here. We talked to the appliance store in June and I can’t remember what they told us but I think the dishwasher was supposed to be here in July, the stove in August and the fridge in December.
We haven’t heard anything from the appliance store so Vince called them this morning. The dishwasher is in but they knew that wasn’t my priority so they were holding that. Vince asked about the stove. The salesman had to call someone to check on it and call us back.
He called back and said “It’s going to be after the first of the year . . well after the first of the year!” My mouth dropped open. I cannot . . well, I can but I do not want to use that glass top stove for another 6 months.
Vince asked the guy if we could come in and pick something else . . just basically take whatever we can get. For what we paid for the GE Cafe stove, dishwasher and fridge, we could go with something less expensive, stainless seems easier to get than white, and replace those three plus the wall oven and microwave so everything matches. He said yes so we both changed clothes, I put on makeup, used the curling iron to tame the hair and off we went. We were about halfway there and the guy called. He said “You aren’t going to believe this but a truck came as we were talking and your stove is on that truck.” Even though the whole story sounds a bit fishy to me, I’m happy that my stove is here.
Next, we call the plumber . . three weeks til they can get here.
This is the point where I bite my tongue and keep my mouth shut but I know that no less than 10 times, I’ve asked Vince to go ahead and get the gas line installed so we don’t have to wait on that. Nope .. he’s in charge and he’d take care of that so now . . we wait to get the gas line installed and once the gas line is installed, we call back and it can take up to a week to get the delivery of the stove made.
I’m happy enough about the stove that I won’t complain about the gas line but . . dang it . . I would have had that line put in the day after we ordered the stove!
They’re still saying November on the fridge. I don’t even care when it gets here . . I just want the gas stove!

Right now they are probably telling someone else, “I’m so sorry. We thought your stove would be here any time, but it has been delayed”. I’m sure they don’t want to lose a sale!

I’m not even letting my mind go there but honestly, I’ll believe it when it’s sitting in my kitchen!

FYI, when we had a gas line run and stove arrived, it had to be the plumber that installed. The appliance shop would not touch gas. If its’ the same in MO, that gets you a week ahead. Plumbers did not charge me extra as it was sitting here.

The appliance store will hook it up if the gas line is there. We don’t have a gas line to the kitchen so the plumber has to install that. The appliance store has someone who converts the stove from natural gas to propane (which was an extra charge) so that will all be done. They’ll hook it up, test it and we should be good.

Yay!! I hope it all goes well!! I went into Home Depot yesterday to look at dishwashers. The dishwasher I wanted is not available at all. Can’t even order it. They say the second choice should be here Sept 24th….told my husband I don’t want to order it until he can verify it will fit and he’s supposed to do that before we go back tomorrow to order it. Hoping it will get here when they say but I know it’s possible that might not happen.

September 24 isn’t too far off but yes . . will it really get here then? I suppose you just have to take a chance. It’s so crazy. I asked the appliance guy today if things were coming in better and he very emphatically said NO!

We ordered a fridge in early July and were told it could be late September but more likely October or November until it arrives. Just hoping our old fridge gimps along until the new one gets here.

I don’t quite remember when I ordered a new fridge. A couple weeks ago, the store informed that they had received notice that it would be delayed another 2-3 months. They could get me a GE now! so I have finally got a fridge and I’m so happy to not have to go downstairs for stuff! Strange as it sounds, this is the coldest ice ever!!! I will probably never get a gas stove again now; but, oh, how I wish.
Judy Laquidara says
They told us with the stove that they could get us most anything other than GE but we were waiting for the GE. I can’t wait to get the gas stove. Every day I dislike the glass top more and more!
