When we looked at this house, Angie had a storage rack next to the wall oven and it fit perfectly. I can’t remember what all she had on it but it looked very useful. She told me she got it from Longaberger a long time ago and even if I could still get it, my guess is that it’s over my budget.
They didn’t have a dog gate up!
I was looking at Hobby Lobby the other day and found this little rack.
Here are the measurements:
I’m thinking I might put the plastic spatulas, spoons, and all the whisks in the top shelf. It isn’t going be pretty but it will be functional and will make them easy to to find.
I’m not sure what I’ll put in the bottom two baskets. I have a lot of the giant plastic containers of the spices I use a lot. They take up a whole shelf in the spice cabinet so I may put those in the bottom, then write on the lids what they are.
The little baskets lift completely out so that’s nice.
I have something similar but much smaller and round and I keep bananas in the top basket, onions in the second and potatoes in the third.

Since it is so close to the oven, you might want to put pot holders and hot pads up there.

I don’t use that oven very much but I could put a couple of pot holders there. Thanks for that idea. That oven mostly holds cast iron and I use the range oven unless I have enough baking that it’s full and then I’ll use the wall oven.

My concern would be all those utensils being so close to dog hair and cat hair. Just my opinion.
Judy Laquidara says
The dog isn’t supposed to be loose in the kitchen. She has a little corner that’s has kinda like a kiddie fence and that’s where she stays. The cat doesn’t go into the kitchen. Now I keep most of my utensils in a big vase looking thing on top of the counter and I don’t think they’ll be much closer to the floor in the top shelf of that rack than they are on the counter top.
And . . what’s a little dog hair and cat hair? 🙂

I am looking for a rack in my kitchen to put next to the wall oven too and almost bought that very same one from Hobby Lobby. I decided what would work best is a narrow baker’s rack as I would like to put my stand mixer on it since it currently is stored in another room. Hoping to find something that will work when I go to Ikea tomorrow.
Judy Laquidara says
I hope you find something! I’d love to spend a few hours (or days) walking through an IKEA. I’ve only been to one – in Austin, TX.
Rebecca says
That’s one more than I’ve stepped foot in! 🙂
Donna in KS says
I’ve not been in one either. The husband always managed to miss the exit ramp, or some such excuse, ‘we are late already’, when we would be in KS City. It may be something like the Container Store that’s mentioned, I found too much “stuff” there! I may explore HL as that rack seems useful in several spots in my house!
Susan says
Do you have a Container Store near you? I think there is one in St. Louis, but you could order online. They have the neatest stuff for storing things hence the name Container Store. You might find something there.
Judy Laquidara says
St. Louis is probably the closest one and I don’t see us going there. I have purchased things online and will wait til the little rack gets here and then do some measuring. I was thinking if I could get round containers that stand up tall enough, I could separate my utensils and maybe put four of them on that top rack – one for spatulas, spoons, whisks and tongs but I’m not sure if the top shelf will be long enough. It may be a better use of space having them all in there loose. I’ll see once it arrives.
