Where has this month gone. Tomorrow is September 1. Cannot believe that.
Yesterday the a/c guy was here and we thought he’d be finished by 2 but it was almost 5 by the time he finished. He worked from 9:30 to 5 . . that was a long time. When we thought he’d be done by 2, Vince said “When he’s done, let’s run grab a hamburger” because he wanted to pick something up in town. By the time the guy was done, the place Vince needed to go was closed and I still needed to go cut okra in a friend’s garden so we still went and got the burger, cut the okra, came home and I cut okra in our garden, picked tomatoes, got the freeze dryer going . . way more time than I had planned to spend in the kitchen.
We did our tests on the first chapter for our Master Garden program, answered the discussion questions. I vacuumed and then I cross stitched the rest of the day.
Additions:
This truly isn’t my fault. It never is, right? I had watched the Brenda and the Serial Starter video Sunday night and they mentioned dyed silk floss by Vicky Clayton. Sunday, I just passed right over that. I’m not even sure I love silk floss – maybe but maybe not much more than DMC or overdyes.
Yesterday afternoon, I had an extreme urge to look up Vicky Clayton silk so I did and . . I ordered several “packets”, which is basically packets of the floss for a particular project. I also added a few colors that I may want to try. I really am going to have to stop watching flosstubes.
Cooking:
Nothing. Today we’ll have the roast beef sandwiches that we were going to have yesterday.
Videos I Watched:
No videos yesterday.
Stitching:
Ahhh . . I think I got a lot done yesterday. My next post will include pictures.
Plans for Today:
A couple of hours of housework and then I’m going to put my feet up and stitch. Really . . most of the day I hope.

I clicked on the Vicky Clayton link, and was looking at the floss packets. This led to looking at charts and the designer Ink Circles, (Etsy and Web site), which led to Gloriana Threads (silks) and finally, because all roads lead to home, OldWorldDesigns.com . OWD is a needlepoint shop 20 minutes from my house, if you look at their video, they have a monstrous thread wall which includes Soie d’Alger and Gloriana. I have passed this shop many times, thinking it was “just a needlepoint place” apparently they use pretty threads too. Thanks for helping me find it 😉

Awesome!
Update on our a/c: the part we waited for came and they put it in. It still wasn’t working right. They then discovered the compressor had been severely damaged. They replaced the unit yesterday. So far, so good!

That’s great that they replaced the unit. Seems like someone should have noticed that before! Vince wasn’t real happy with our repair guys. When our unit quit cooling last week, they put 6 pounds of freon in it. They told us they might lose some while changing the part but it shouldn’t be much. A week later, they came back to change the part and said it needed 12 pounds of freon which would have been $600. Vince said “NO! When it needed 6 pounds, it stopped cooling. It was cooling just fine so there’s no way I’m paying for 12 pounds of freon.” They ended up making us only pay $150 for freon but between the service call, freon x 2, installation of the coil (the part was under warranty but not labor), we spent $2,000 on a 4-1/2 year old air conditioner. Ridiculous! But . . can’t live without it.
I hope yours runs for a very long time without repairs.

Vicky Clayton silks are WOWZA! Can you tell I like stitching with silk? And hers have been around for as long as I can remember. I’m sure you will like them too…
Judy Laquidara says
From what I heard, she had stopped dying for a while (no idea how long) and only recently started doing it again. Do you know anything about that? I’d love to know more about her and her work but her website doesn’t give much info. I’ve joined her FB page too.

I’ve used a lot of Vicky Clayton silk floss over the years in my crazy quilting. It’s lovely to work with.

I had never heard of it so I’m very anxious to try it. Knowing you like it makes me that much more excited to get it.
