I really do love the little clamp on magnifying lamp with the neck that is too short to reach across whatever I’m working on.
The metal piece is the light bar that attached to the stitching frame. Even when I clamp the lamp to the far left edge of the bar (which is maybe 10″ long), it doesn’t extend far enough to reach to the far left edge of the 18″ frame I’m using.
I keep coming up with ideas and yesterday I said to Vince “Could you pull the little plastic piece off the end of this metal piece and then stick a piece of wood in there to extend out where I could clamp this lamp?” Vince gets so tired of my ideas that always cause work for him and we’ve had several “discussions” about that lately. He knew right where a piece of wood was that might work so he went and got it and yes, it worked. There are holes in the light bar so he was able to slide that piece of wood in that square “tube”, turn a screw thing and it stays nice and tight in there.
Eventually he’ll find some sandpaper and he’ll sand this piece of wood smooth for me and . . a piece of wood he found in the burn pile solved my light problem . . for now.

Now is he willing to make more. I have the exact same problem. Love my lamp but it isn’t long enough. My only thing is mine seems to be at a different angle than yours. Can you take a picture showing the whole setup so I can show my nephew to see if he can rig something for me.

I love a handy partner! I was going to ask my husband to make a frame before you posted about the Lowery one…lol I too would like the photo of the whole set up. I bought the roll around light you mentioned the other day but somehow I lost the spring washer when I opened the package. They are sending me a replacement but another solution with that clamp on light would be helpful too. I hate to carp about A Changed World again but I’m wondering what color you used for the black dots in the pattern in the baskets. There’s no black dot in the legend. Someone asked the designer on her Facebook page 2 weeks ago and there was still no answer. I’m thinking I might not ever buy another pattern from her with all the mistakes I’m finding….recently with the letters too. 🙁

The designer updated her Facebook page with that information where the question was asked. 🙂 It’s DMC 610, and it was supposed to be the bold cross on the symbols not the black dot.
