I visited with a neighbor and took them some cake. It’s funny because they’re the ones with the big garden. He comes here at least three times a week with produce – cantaloupe, watermelons (the BEST super sweet, juicy, crunchy watermelons), okra. He would give us tomatoes but he knows we have those. He has given us asparagus, rhubarb . . whatever they have in abundance, they bring to the neighbors. When I took the cake, the wife said “I feel bad because you’re always bringing us food and we don’t bring anything to you.” WHAT? I told her . . I feel the same way because y’all are always giving us stuff out of the garden. She told me that it’s really nice having a neighbor who will take their excess. I said “It sounds like you’re saying it’s nice to have a neighbor who will eat ANYTHING!” 🙂 I really do feel bad because of all the produce they bring us and we don’t have much to share with them. He loves growing and sharing and I know he doesn’t expect anything in return but it’s nice to be able to give back.
Additions:
Nothing! Some days I do so good – some weeks I do good. Every now and then I’ll get a credit card bill with NOTHING on it. Other months, I’m afraid to look at the bill. I did order a lot during pre-order for Needlework Expo and I did order some linen the other night but my goal is to go this entire week without ordering anything.
Cooking:
Yesterday was busy! I did get the second batch of zucchini done and made a zucchini pineapple cake. Here’s that blog post.
Then I put a chuck roast in the pressure cooker and made Mississippi Pot Roast. I do mine the easy way. Cut up a chuck roast, season it with salt, pepper and Cajun Redhead, brown it in a little oil, throw in some chopped onions, add the two packets, add 3/4 cup water and almost a teaspoon of Better than Bouillon (Beef), put the lid on and cook it. Last night we had chuck roast, corn and potatoes. I put the leftovers in the fridge and will skim off the grease today, thicken the gravy, caramelize some onions and have roast beef sandwiches with Cowboy Candy (jalapenos) on crusty bread.

Our first Master Gardener lesson was available so I listened to that.
Stitching:
A bit of stitching on A Changed World.
Plans for Today:
The a/c guys will be here four or five hours so I plan to stay in the sewing room, stitch and mind my own business.
I don’t think either one of us have plans to leave the house today. I know I don’t.
No major cooking on the agenda today since the zucchini is done and the roast is cooked for tonight’s sandwiches.
Hopefully I’ll get lots of stitching done. I’d love to get all the stitching done in the section beneath the trees and be able to start the trees. If I had to guess, I’d say I won’t be stitching trees til at least Wednesday though.

I spent my weekend stitching on Changed World. Our air quality is terrible due to the wild fires, so staying indoors is recommended. I may even finish the “dreaded black box” today.

Sorry about the air quality there but thankful you have a project to keep you busy indoors. You’re such a fast stitcher (or maybe I’m just terribly slow!). I’d love to see a picture of your progress.

I picked up A Changed World again last night. Just one corner flower, one pot of flowers on the top and the outside border to add flowers to.

Yours looks so good!!

I’m working on the words in the upper section. I have the green floral band done but haven’t put in the flowers yet. I’m thinking of using blue flowers with white centers for the borders since my background fabric is light. If I do that I think I need to change the order of the colors on that floral band. Maybe switch the blue and red flowers to spread the blue color a little. That’s my thought but will continue with the words and then the two baskets before deciding…also thinking of changing the blue flowers in the baskets with a different color.
