Our kitchen has a lot of cabinets but I’m one of those people who could always use more. I could have a kitchen the size of a gymnasium and I’d still need more space. The Texas kitchen was small but it had six deep, extra wide drawers and I loved those drawers and miss them. I also had a skinny little cabinet for cookie sheets and cutting boards and I don’t have that here. There’s probably no way to get everything . . especially when buying a house but we’ve built several houses and no matter how much planning/consulting I did, there were always things I wished I had done differently.
This is a little rack I got years ago – maybe from Hobby Lobby but I can’t remember. In Texas, I had it hanging in my kitchen but there is absolutely zero wall space in my kitchen here. I kept thinking of where I could hang it and finally decided to hang it in the hallway area that goes to the laundry room, which is right off the kitchen.
The top shelf has various baking chips – semi-sweet, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, etc. The middle shelf has nuts – walnuts, sliced almonds, slivered almonds, pecans, walnuts, etc.
The bottom shelf has dried fruit – cherries, cranberries, blueberries – I use a lot of these in the English Muffins.
I wouldn’t mind having more of these little units for things I don’t use often but like to keep. I could put all the little packets (Ranch Dressing, Au Jus Gravy, etc.) in one. I could put paper muffin tin liners in one.
It’s so great for little things that get in the way in a full size cabinet

I am so grateful my husband can build cabinets–in Montana I have an island with six wide deep drawers. In Arizona the majority of my lower cabinets are deep, wide drawers. The only lower cabinets I have hold cookie sheets and my Kitchen Aide mixer on one of those pop up shelves so it’s hidden when not in use. Even then we didn’t plan for a spot for the Instant Pot!! But I have the guest house kitchen and it also has tons of deep wide drawers–I can use those for stuff I don’t use often. I am so excited to get back to Arizona and move into the main house kitchen–the countertops were installed right before we came north.

It’s so nice to have a place to hide the things you don’t use often but definitely want to keep. That is so, so nice to have a husband who can (and will) build cabinets

I keep my baking chips and nuts in the freezer. I only bake occasionally so they stay fresh longer in the freezer.

I think lack of storage space is what has kept me from buying certain small appliances. I have converted a small coat closet near my kitchen into a little pantry by taking out the hanging rod and adding shelves. It also holds my brooms and vacuum cleaner. And I had a narrow little cabinet section in my kitchen that was perfect for my cookies sheets, and racks – after I took out the shelves. But I still could use more storage space just like you.

I have two sets of metal shelving in the garage (same type shelving as I use in the sewing room). One has cast iron and one has appliances I use often but don’t have room for in the kitchen.

When we redid our kitchen here before moving in, we had 3 of those wide deep drawers put in. I hate them. And we have plenty of other drawers, but they are so shallow they are pretty much useless except as junk drawers. I really wish we had thought things out better. But I am happy with my quartz counter top and the fact that we have so much more counter space here! Of course, the upper shelves on our cabinets are almost useless too – even my 6′ tall husband needs a step stool to reach that top shelf. Oh well…..

That’s a problem here too. The cabinets are really tall. I can easily reach the bottom shelf but the two more shelves above the bottom .. I have to stand on a little folding ladder/stool to get to the second one and won’t even try to reach the third one without Vince being right there to keep me from falling. (or to catch me if I fall. There’s a big cabinet over the fridge and I can reach the very front of the bottom shelf. Cannot reach the top shelf and I think we’d need a forklift to get anything out of the back of that cabinet. Either the cabinets in Texas were lower or not as deep because with my small step stool, I could easily reach the tops of those. So, lots of storage doesn’t necessarily mean lots of usable storage!

Well I had to see what I could find and they have two similar to yours at Hobby Lobby listed under Wall Storage and Organization. I am going to see if either one will mount to the inside of my pantry door to keep those things from falling behind other items and me not being able to find them. Thanks for sharing.
